8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI understand Academics are important but so is emotional well being. A no-tolerance policy for bullying and physical harm does not exist. There are many reasons this school has bad nicknames. Some care about our kids. Some are there for a paycheck. Most average kids receive nothing extra. 8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOnce considered one of the best HS in CT, Pomperaug has been headed downhill for several years now. When our eldest son graduated in 2002 it was still a top public education venue, but you will find many parents of the current students complaining about: indifferent teachers, ongoing drug problems, poor resources. Much of this is likely due to the ongoing budget struggles with Middlebury (whose residents constantly wish to reduce taxes at the school's expense), but some of it is a product of administration. Southbury schools are excellent through the Middle School levels, but more and more parents in what is predominantly a high-income, white collar town are opting to send their children to private institutions nearby -- myself included.Parent Review10y ago - Rochambeau Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageRochambeau Middle School is a top notch middle school in an excellent school district, Region 15. RMS (as well as GES and PHS) have excellent dedicated teachers who provide high quality curriculum in a caring environment. I was an educator in another district and I was always amazed at the rigor of the academics in this school district.The school has a very positive and welcoming atmosphere and is run by a highly caring and professional principal, Mr. Bernardi. I could not be more happy with the education our daughter received at RMS. She was extremely prepared for Pomperaug High School.Parent Review6y ago

"Dogs rock and are welcome. Even saw the last guy picking up for his dog. Most people here are nice and make an effort to be kind to dogs, cats, etc. "

"We see people all ages walking dogs in the neighborhood and in town. There is also a dog park. Some of the neighbors even carry treats while walking out"
