What Locals Say about Anacortes

  • Krysti Seay
"We have beautiful water views, but notoriously bad cell service. Neighbors out walking dogs or kids. People care about their homes and yards. "

"Everyone has dogs here! They are welcome everywhere and they love the forest lands! It’s fun walking and exploring with my dog. He loves it. "

  • Jillian G
"Schools are great for typical children but not for children with adhd or anxiety. They let those kids struggle and slip through the cracks. If your kids have learning disabilities don’t count on this school system "

"there id only one main road to bigger cities. the road is usually flowing smoothly, but when there's an accident, and traffic has stopped, there's no choice but to wait it out. "

"Though shopping in town is limited if you want more than groceries and tourist items, it is readily available within 20 miles. You can't beat the scenery, recreational opportunities, and just sheer beauty of the place. Wish I had never moved away!"

"Anacortes, WA is a great place to raise a city with good schools, plenty of parks, lots of restaurants, a movie theatre 1 block away and the ocean is only 3 blocks away!!!"

"Anacortes has more protected community forestland as a percentage of the town than any other town in America, with lots of hiking trails, lakes, ponds, wildlife, and some old-growth stands. Fidalgo Island is a drive-on island with the beauty of a ferry-only island. We are in the Olympic Peninsula rain shadow so have less rainfall than much of Puget Sound."

"My family and I love the local community. Anacortes is quaint tourist town full of history and activities. The public school system is wonderful and the "mom and pop" stores downtown give the feeling that you are in your own private resort town hidden away in the Pacific Northwest!"
