5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe horrible preschool. The teacher looks always tired. Something horrible really happened to my child. He lost smiles and looked pale. He cried historically before he went to school. My husband and I talked to Ms. Tracy Olander. She was the person in charge of preschool in the school district. We were completely ignored. When we called her to find out about about the problems, she was very confrontational. The district never gave us help. He could not even go to bathroom at school out of fear. So, when I picked him up, he would have urinated in the car seat. It happened two or three times. My child has been going to school since 18 months and did not have any problems. He could not wait to get in the school bus. So, it was not separation anxiety. All in all, our son did not learn anything in Maryland Avenue Elementary. I have felt that we paid to make our son sick. I do not recommend this preschool.Parent Review2y ago - Parkway Middle School

"I work in La Jolla and the commute is bad. It takes 25 minutes without traffic, but it ranges from 1 hr to 1 1/2 hours each way when I’m aiming to fit a 9-5 routine. I have to leave my house near Lake Murray at 6 am every day to avoid traffic, beware of this."

"I have a short 8 minute commute where I don't have to use the freeway at all. It's great! Otherwise it can be a tad busy in the mornings from 7:30-8:30am and in the evenings from 5-6pm in weekdays. But nothing too bad."

"I bought in to this neighborhood a year ago because it is eclectic and a good value. not a subdivision where the houses are all similar, we have a lot of neighbors who have lived there most of their lives."

"When we first moved to La Mesa, I wasn’t sure I liked it. The main streets aren’t all that pedestrian-friendly but parking in Downtown La Mesa can be a pain. Now that I’ve been here two years and know my frequent routes well, I really love it. The playgrounds are great for my toddlers. And for a family Sunday we have great options in Lake Murray, Cowles Mtn, Mt Helix, and Santee Lakes all just a few minutes away. The 4th of July fireworks are awesome. It really is a great place to raise a family. "
