3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDeQueen is a beautiful K-5th grade multi-cultural elementary campus where all children are motivated to excellence in their own ability. Students, staff and parents believe they are the BEST and are encouraged each day with a daily pledge to excel to and maintain this ideal. DeQueen took the lead in school uniforms and After School programs long before they were mandatory in The District because of its vision for success for all children. The school slogan then was, " All Children Can Learn and All Children Can Get Smart!!" As times changed the belief is still there for the Veteran teachers who have seen DeQueen move from a worn-out, mold infested facility....to temp portables...to the first rebuilt facility in 2005. It's still the pride of the community and home to more than 500 beautiful, successful and ambitious little people!! The Staff is rebuilding this year, however, the pride and dedication to the success of our children simply continues as in past generations. Motivators for success come from community support, Superintendent & Board, supervisors, Lead Principal Gloston, her team, teachers and students encouraging each other to succeed. Learning NEVER stops at DeQueen.Teacher Review10y ago - Lincoln Middle

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a student at this school a couple years ago, so I can only imagine not much has changed. I had a teacher there pull me out of class to help me with anxiety I had in gym. She found out that I’m gay and was disgusted by me. She became cruel & no longer provided me any safety from my fears. Not to mention- I didn’t learn a single thing. I was bullied to no end, and the teachers couldn’t have cared less. Don’t send your children here, they're better off going to an online school or being homeschooled.Other Review1y ago - Memorial High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf I could give them negative zero's infinity I would! This school is God awfully terrible ! The principal has no respect, he does not know how to run a school, yet they still have him and his disorderly teachers there! His staff consistently disrespects the children and when they eventually retaliate, then they want to redirect the students for defending themselves! First of all, those are young adults and respect is due a dog! Respect them and they'll respect you! That is the worse school in Southeast Texas! Better yet, worse school staff on the planet!!! Throw their horrible behinds away and hire more serious and well educated ones, because clearly they lack education to the point where the children are failing! All the teachers do is ambush the children with thousands of assignment packets via online sources and gives them to the kids with no explanation, because they (the teacher) has no clue what he or she is doing!!! "I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 27 years. The city does not do adequate maintenance on the infrastructure, subsequently our neighborhood has flooded twice in the past year. Houses can be purchased for far less than their replacement cost. "

"cultural diversity and economy is booming compared to most cities . Most of the great economy and housing market comes from the all the numerous oil refineries that employ alot of people here and drives the economy to above average and even boosting economy of cities in Louisiana closest to us . An old port town with lots of rich history . Local property taxes are the lowest around the area with private businesses popping up everywhere . Unemployment is low and the housing market is one of the best in the nation ."
