Read what parents are saying about Memorial High SchoolIf I could give them negative zero's infinity I would! This school is God awfully terrible ! The principal has no respect, he does not know how to run a school, yet they still have him and his disorderly teachers there! His staff consistently disrespects the children and when they eventually retaliate, then they want to redirect the students for defending themselves! First of all, those are young adults and respect is due a dog! Respect them and they'll respect you! That is the worse school in Southeast Texas! Better yet, worse school staff on the planet!!! Throw their horrible behinds away and hire more serious and well educated ones, because clearly they lack education to the point where the children are failing! All the teachers do is ambush the children with thousands of assignment packets via online sources and gives them to the kids with no explanation, because they (the teacher) has no clue what he or she is doing!!! Smh...
Posted by a parent on 2/13/2018This school lacks school spirit! They need to work on getting students more involved in extracurricular activities.
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2014I don't like this school or either the city of Port Arthur. Especially schools are bad and teachers too they don't care anything about students. We Hispanics and if our race need help in Spanish or other language they won't able to help. The city of port Arthur very very personal when you go to pay the water! The city very ugly needs to fix the streets and the city grass very tall they never cut the grass here
Posted by a parent on 6/17/2013Trust me I've been enrolled at this school since the day it was built. 1st year they gave me a class that require the CATE building but during my 9th grade year CATE building (the building that teaches real world skills) wasn't even built yet. Your attendance WILL be affected somehow even if you maintained a perfect attendance, staff will mess up on many occasions. To top it all off the football players have almost full immunity to the teacher scoldings and are allowed to get away with mostly everything. Academics have little appreciation at this school. They care more about athletics, I'd advised you to stay FAR away from this school.
Posted by a student on 6/6/2013I urge the TEXAS BOARD OF EDUCATION to please look into the horrible things going on in this school district! We moved from New York and were absolutely horrified from the things that have happened in this short time that we have lived here. Teachers do not care weather students pass or fail, all they want is a paycheck! The VIOLENCE and the BULLYING is OUTRAGEOUS!! My daughter goes to school afraid that she will get hurt everyday! I am at the end of the rope. We have tried speaking with principals, assistant principals and there is just no help! All we have experienced is an abundant of rude and disrespectful staff that get mad when we try to ask for help!

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTyrrell sets the standard for the rest of our school district by staying ahead and anticipating student needs. One thing for example that they started this year is class dojo app. It is an excellent way to communicate to parents, and parents to communicate with teachers. Looking forward to another amazing year.Parent Review8y ago - Staff Sergeant Lucian Adams Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe recently moved to Port Arthur. My oldest is in the fourth grade and struggling. After failed attempts at home to help her get caught up and focusing oon weak reading skills, we consulted the school for advice and guidance. After meeting wwith her teachers and then meeting in a group setting with the principal, teachers and other administrators and education professionals the only course of action offered was an "extended day" program that offered nothing in the way of improvement and only offered more work and a longer day. After consideration we decided to give it a shot. HUGE mistake. The program made the problems worse due to fatigue and lack of engagement by faculty. The program is inconsistent in the materials coverd and too many times the kids simply watched movies. The staff want to do well, but the lack of strong leadership from the principal, the extreme apathy from the parents and the "not my problem" mind set they harbor are giant obstacles to a successful education at this school. We will not be attending again next year and I strongly encourage you to seek better opportunities for your children. This is a horribly weak school in a very disenfranchised area.Parent Review10y ago - Hillcrest Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe School of Montessori in Nederland has been the right choice for our family from the very beginning. Our children are not only excelling academically they are learning social, life, and cultural skills they would not have received at home. As a public school teacher I have great respect for our directress who is passionate about Montessori as well as loving to our children. She goes above and beyond what is expected and required. It is also affordable in comparison to other local opportunities. We could not ask for anything more.Parent Review11y ago - Sycamore Elementary Preschool
