N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to jefferson school from 1995-1997. It was a great school with memorable staff. I only had a problem with one teacher. This is where I found my love of reading and I loved the librarian, and the 2nd grade teachers. This school was cutting edge back then-(where I saw my first computers) and now (my daughter goes there and teaches ME how to do her homework on the iPads that distribute!). Great playground, great teachers, charming mid 20th century school. Wish they didn't have those unsightly portable classrooms now- those weren't always there. Students are active in the community and they have fun events, assemblies, fund raisers, movie nights, daddy daughter dances, and a great administration. I was proud to send my daughter there for her 1st and 2nd grade years.Other Review8y ago - John F. Kennedy Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWould not recommend although teachers do a great job, the ladies in the office are extremely caddy. My child went here for 3 years and although we loved the teachers every year, the blonde behind the desk in the office was almost always talking about students to another adult or making fun of the less fortunate kids when they would come in for the morning med or if they didn't feel good. I can't even count how many times I personally seen adult bullying. Not to mention, when bullying does happen, not much is done, teachers tell the kids being treated badly to quite tattling. Also the principle {Raddaz) seems nice and friendly but she is two faced, lots of other parents feel that way also. My student also struggled every single year while he was here and never actually grew. Once he moved schools he has greatly excelled, his scores have skyrocketed a whole 5 grade levels and he isn't dealing with bullying anymore. The smaller schools around the county are so much nicer, more laxed and smaller class sizes really help with one on one situations to get your child where they should be, education wise and mental health wise. Like I said, love the teachers and all the hard work they put in, there are some really, really great ones but man, the two ladies in the office, they need voted out.Parent Review1y ago - Manistee High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot supportive of different ideas. They do not teach students how to think, they teach them what to think. They teach kids how to google stuff and have their faces in screens all day.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 530 2nd St.

"I spend my summers up here and it is BY FAR my favorite place to go. There are tons of great restaurants, the people here are so nice and helpful and they really make you feel at home. The city is small enough that you can walk everywhere but big enough that driving around isn't an issue. It has something great to do for all ages, like the casino and the beach. There are many fun activities in the summer such as boat and jet ski rentals, canoeing, festivals, parades, and shopping!!! You really do get that "small town feel" when you are up here. The entire city treats you like family and they are great with both kids and pets! I've lived here, I travel here every summer, and I'd like to live there permanently someday."
