Socially, there's lots of activities available as one would expect with 2k+ student body and state-of-the-art facilities but bullying and drugs are disturbingly prevalent. Eminently walkable, with a huge variety of shops and restaurants a quick stroll away and a subway stop at its heart, the neighborhood invites you to leave your car in the garage you probably have and complete your errands on foot. Parks and recreational facilities, including a large lake with a public beach, are within the neighborhood’s bounds. "I’ve lived here in Newton Centre for almost 30 years and love the convenience of a city with the outdoor parks and recreation of the country. Schools are great, easy walk to public transportation, and Crystal Lake is one block away, You can walk to Whole Foods, the library, City Hall, Cold Springs Park and great restaurants."
