2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a nightmare. Fights everyday, bullying, racism run rampant from students, teachers and administrators. Mostly against the white population of students attending because it makes up such a small percentage there. Don’t let the “magnet” fool you it’s a horrible school. The only thing we liked about this school was the SRO and the PAAL program. Communication between teachers and parents is non existent. They try to make all of the communication between the students and teachers as if the child were an adult and don’t notify parents of issues. It’s just all and all a bad experience so we left.Other Review10mo ago - East Garner Elementary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is in the first grade and he seems to really enjoy his teacher - even though he has told me she sometimes yells at the class. She is new to the school, and is only in her second year of teaching, not that it's okay, but she probably hasn't learned how to handle ~20 kids at once. Other than the teacher, there is nothing positive to say. The process of checking out students is utterly ridiculous. I checked my son out without being asked for my identification. So did two other people that I had pick him up when he was sick. Is this a big deal? To some people, it may not be. But, in our situation, it is huge. In fact, when I asked the front desk person how they know who can check him out, she flat out lied and said she recognized me. I had never seen her before. As another parent stated, communication is minimal. At the beginning of the year, the principal did recorded announcements on the phone. As the school year went by, the announcements became fewer and further between. Of course, as a parent it is my responsibility to know when my child should be at school- no argument there. But, when it comes to picture days, fundraisers, award ceremonies, etc....if you want to know any of that, good luck!!! My son won an award and I had no idea until he brought it home. The principal apparently likes to utilize twitter, something I don't use, for communication. Recently she has started posting more on the class dojo app. That's usually the only way to get a response from her. If you call the school, very often you cannot get through which is a MAJOR problem if you ask me. I am trying very hard to take my son out of this school.Parent Review7y ago - Wake Early Coll Heal

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a terrible choice for parents and students looking for a supportive teachers. Teachers will rarely listen to or try to understand a student's point of view. The administration will ignore many student concerns without any investigation unless parents interfere. Many of the work handed is just busy work and rarely has an impact on student learning. There are some helpful teachers but there are even more cruel teachers. It's incredibly hard to fix grades that a student didn't deserve without parental interference. The courses offered are very restrictive as well.Student Review8y ago - Wake Nc State Univ Stem Early College High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had an amazing experience as a student at this school. This has made me not only ready for college but also the professional world. Throughout my four years here I was able to grow and learn through the help of the incredible students and staff. I can't wait to see what Wake STEM becomes.Student Review4y ago - Wake Young Men's Leadership Academy

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile we have had a few bumps getting our boy engaged, the leadership have been great partners with looking at options. This school is a college prep school so there is not an emphasis in the Arts, but more a focus on core curriculum. We love that there are male teachers teaching our boy as they provide examples of strong role models. We love the uniforms!Parent Review2mo ago - Wake Young Women's Leadership Academy
