5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe were highly disappointed with this school. To start, this school has no PTO and no parent-teacher conferences!! What kind of school has no way for parental involvement built into it?! My son was high performing and instead of building in ways for him to keep being challenged the only solution was to stick him in front of the iPad half the day. We need to do better than this. Scaffold education and provide higher performing students with activities OFF of the ipads. Other countless complaints were television during lunchtime, candy being given out almost every day, an extensive reward/discipline system that makes the children completely desire extrinsic motivators, crossing guards looking at their phones during dismissal, I could go on. Of course, there are really caring adults and educators in the school, but something is just not right and not working.Parent Review1y ago - Choctawhatchee Senior High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI recently graduated from Choctawhatchee High School and all I can say is that it was bad. For all four years of my high school career, the A/C was constantly broken, and when “fixed”, 75% of the time it’d break down again within the next day or two. The school is severely overpacked and nobody does anything about it. Within my last two years there, it just got more and more cramped, and now according to a few friends I have still at Choctaw, the hallways will be at complete standstills for at least two minutes due to how many students there are. The guidance counselors were either never available, looked at you like you had ten heads, or acted like you were heavily inconveniencing them with whatever you had to talk about. I was trying to get my transcripts from the school a few months ago so I could enroll in college classes and the guidance office just laughed, went “well that sucks”, and hung up. The front office ladies? Forget about it. They literally have the simplest job in the school and yet they still don’t know how to do it. They’ll also constantly be extremely crabby, as if someone came in and ruined their whole week. They barely help the teachers (if even at all) and they only care about you if you’re the football team, the cheer team, the Indianettes, or the Stylemarchers. If you’re not any of those? They could genuinely care less about you. I, 100%, would have transferred to FWBHS if it wasn’t for the fact that I was a Stylemarcher. They also do not care one bit about your mental health and the only guidance/office person that cared is no longer there. They have never been open to parent-conferences unless your child has done something wrong. All in all, I can confidently say that the only things that were good about that school was the band and a handful of teachers. In conclusion, if you’re a parent reading this and are able to send your child to a different school, please do. Because Choctaw has become/is a very bad school and I wouldn’t even wish the torment of going there onto my worst enemies.Other Review1y ago - Northwest Florida Ballet Academie

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child in 5th grade and he love this school so much he said he never want to go to any public school that has reset again instead of do PE they do ballet everyday and he absolutely happy with that also kids in this school had a good manner teacher and staff are great they recognized every child parents since school so small they spot are limited so it’s very hard to get in this school it’s for hard work children who can become a ballerina star in the future!!Parent Review6mo ago - Okaloosa Virtual Franchise

"I have my own car to commute from one point to the next. But there are shops and stores for all your needs in close proximity "

"I work on the local base. commute is standard, less than 15 minutes on a good day. night shift workers get the best commute but everything in town is closed"
- Christian G.

"My commute has moderate traffic in the afternoon when I go to work up near Crestview but at about midnight when I get off work, there is little to no traffic all the way down 85 to my house in Ocean City. There is no sidewalks and trash truck drivers don’t take forever to pick up garbage on trash day. There’s not much of a youth presence in the area but regardless it’s a pretty quiet area and everybody keeps to themselves. "

"Lots of trees close to water and also some shopping and restaurants . A Bike ride away. Lots of birds of all sort and I have seen a fox around too. "
- Ian M.

"Small yards, and poor infrastructure lead to fences faking over in harsh storms. Local shelters are packed and sending lost dogs out of area."

"All the green space and beach area, there is no traffic around the neighborhood and most vehicles drive slow. Occasionally you see cyclist and people walking. Quite pleasant place to walk dogs"

"It’s just as much “home” as Fort Walton. They’re extremely close, and everyone identifies with the towns the same. Everyone knows everyone in some way or another. It’s a nice town that’s close to the beach. "
- Nancy S.

"The Colony Estates area has trees, single family homes, and quiet streets. It is centrally located in greater Fort Walton Beach, so it is only a short drive to shopping and restaurants. The local elementary school is less than a mile away. "
