6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids have been at Travis for 4.5 years, the principal we have now came in 4 years ago. She is GREAT! it is a very military friendly school. My kids have been thru 2 deployment while attending and the school has been very supportive. I even had to tell the kids of a death in the family at school & they were there for us. We have a new PTA, as there wasn't one for several years & they have done an outstanding job. We have a military family liason that takes special time with our "Army Brats". The school is in a low income neighborhood, & due to that there is a disparity in some areas, but Overall its a great school & I recommend it.Parent Review8y ago - Silva Health Magnet High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCurrently, a Senior at Silva who will graduate with a 4.2 GPA, and I can tell you this school has prepared me with a strong resume for college and even the workforce. Silva does give you a great insight into the healthcare field and, by the time you graduate, you will definitely have a decision as to whether healthcare is for you or not. The clinical rotations at Silva are great, since they let you shadow in actual hospitals and see procedures you would only see during college such as surgeries. In addition, some senior programs even let you shadow any physician you want. As a graduating Silva student, I have obtained healthcare certifications that will allow me to work in a decent healthcare part-time job during college while building my resume for medical school. Everyone else that says that "Silva is too hard", just doesn't have the drive or doesn't put in the work to make up for a good grade. Silva is definitely not hard, it only requires a bit of determination. If you are a person who tends to underperform or slack off in school with the childish excuse that "it's too much for my mental health" then, I can assure you, you will have a bad time at Silva because you won't take responsibility for your failures and will blame it all on your teachers or your nonexistent teeneage "mental issues".Parent Review11mo ago - Bassett Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your child has disabilities, do not send them here. The teachers completely disregard the accommodations for IEPs (which is illegal) and tell my kid his disability "isn't real," despite his medical diagnosis and the school papers to prove it. Nothing changed for my child's IEP even after many confrontations with the school. My child switched to Burges their senior year and now has perfect grades. Unfortunately, he cannot graduate on time, and many of the Burges teachers wish he were enrolled here instead so he'd have a chance at graduating on time. Many teachers and their narratives suggest disabilities aren't "real." I addressed this during an IEP meeting, and they'll tell you "that's just how the teacher is." If you are a teacher who believes learning disabilities aren't real, go ask that to a doctor and choose another career. My child had the potential to succeed; his only accommodation was a little extra time to turn work in due to his inability to process things as quickly as others. If you do enroll your child here, the school is generally unsafe. Multiple situations, threats, and real lockdowns occur, with the worst being last year when the school received a report of a photo of two school boys pointing a weapon at the school mirror. I know that students, including my own, had misunderstood this to be not just a photo, but two armed students and a real shooting. I’m lucky my son is okay, but the false alarm detrimented his mental state.Parent Review1mo ago - Transmountain Early College High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI enrolled two children here a few years apart and they had wonderful experiences participating in summer research programs, band, orchestra, math competitions and more. They made lifelong friends. They are both very well prepared for University and graduated high school with associate degrees.Parent Review3y ago - Check out schools near 3815 Truman Ave.

"I live on the military base. I love it. I don’t love El Paso per say. If I had to live off post I would live on the west side, but it cost more and it’s a lot further for work. The northeast, and the Far East are good places to live. "
