5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy student is about halfway through their elementary experience at Hazel Dell. Every teacher, from their classroom teacher to their art/PE/creative movement/music instructors has at one time or another gone out of their way to make my student feel seen, lovavle, and capable. The librarian has been instrumental in turning my reluctant reader into a kid who feels at home in a library, and who believes they are capable of reading anything, even when it's challenging. Recess is very important to kids at this age, and we hear about the recess monitors at home often; they clearly work hard every day to make the students feel safe with appropriate behavioral expectations. My student is learning healthy and effective ways to deal with conflict with their peers, which makes them feel proud and self-reliant. They have access to a school counselor who has personally helped my student navigate tricky situations with friends, making them a more confident kiddo in complex social situations. The school has a therapy dog - Ruby Joy - a Free Little Pantry, and a Free Little Library. The values of kindness and community are present in every part of this school, and we feel so lucky that our kiddo landed here. My student feels very connected to her school, and by extension her community because of what happens at Hazel Dell Elementary on a consistent, daily basis. As parents we feel connected because of the excellent communication from the school via text, email, phone calls, and frequent classes and family nights offered by the school.Bottom line: my student's mental health and social-emptional development are taken seriously and supported by every adult at this school. She's getting a good education, and potentially more importantly, she's developing a strong foundation for lifelong learning.Parent Review1y ago - Skyview High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average8, students are wonderful, good community, great sports programs and clubs for students of all interests. That said students with disabilities and students of low income can struggle with the lack of support given from the school. Other than that an overall good experience with fantastic teachers who will be remembered foreverStudent Review3y ago - Check out schools near 3509 NE 80th St.

"It is advertised as pet friendly, but if you apply to view or talk to staff you will be denied because you have pets. It will also show you that pets are not allowed on the link. False advertising and extremely misleading information. Would not recommend for pet owners. "

"there is a lot of homeless traffic in the area, I always am hearing police sirens, and there seems to be a lot of car prowling with the C-Tran bus station in the neighborhood. it is too expensive for the local demographic. the area also seems a little light-complected. "

"There was a couple neighborly events that happen. I didn’t get to attend because of work, but thought it was nice to be invited. "

"Retired so I have no commute. If I did I would work locally rather than commute to Portland, which is horrible. Now, going northbound would be very acceptable. "

"Halloween is the best around here everyone decorated and hands out candy. A few nice parks in the area as well. Close to grocery stores and places to eat also. "

"This is our 5th year here. Friendly neighbors, quiet evenings. A dead end helps keep traffic to a minimum. No HOA, but yet most all the neighbors take pride in their yards. The only reason we’d move is is if the taxes get too prohibited or if one of us passes, it may become too much of a financial burden for just one of us."

"With the protected wetlands just beyond our back yard we have that country atmosphere in the middle of town. Great ball park just a block away. Quiet, family-oriented neighborhood."

"I'd personally stick to the Portland area. The people are friendlier. But, if you are forced into Vancouver, this area is nice. "

"Great quiet location!!!! There are numerous families living here with retirees. Its a great cobo vs the newer cookie cutter homes out there. These homes are built stronger and the neighborhood drama just doesn't happen"
