7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter loves art and music. Lunch is far too short and the entire day feels rushed to her. She doesn't get any downtime. Teachers are super stressed out and it shows. Huge class sizes are a problem. I'd like to see smaller classes and a focus on what's truly important. Jam packing the day without breaks is unreasonable for children.Parent Review4y ago - Duzine School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAbsolute terrible school. as a former student who moved away this school under educated me. I have found how much I missed out on and all the kids in my class know more of the basic things than I do. I would never recommend this school to anyone.Parent Review2y ago - New Paltz Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teacher’s are better then people make it seem, and the principal that did all the stuff written in the reviews is gone. I would say this is a pretty good school but the one thing that isn’t handled enough is bullying. It’s a serious problem and if you go to someone about it they’re will be little to no consequence to the bully, often causing the bully to continue their behavior.Student Review3mo ago - New Paltz Senior High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers are, for the most part, amazing. They are always willing to go out of their way to help a student. I recommend NPHS a lot. One of my teachers even offered to pay for an AP exam if that was difference between taking it or not. Never, EVER, try to drop an AP class at NPHS as the principal is more concerned about making herself and her school look good by boosting AP numbers than about an individual's needs. Sometimes, 'electives' are not electives and students are simply placed into them because the principal said so. Don't try to drop those classes either, as it is harder to drop than an AP class. Be prepared for parental involvement it anything goes to the principal if you want anything done. Out of 5 stars possible, Teachers get 5 stars, Facilities get 4 stars, Principal gets 1 star.Student Review13y ago - Check out schools near 330 Plutarch Rd.

"It’s a small quiet town. But with amazing locations nearby. Mountains nearby for fun hikes and more, college town next door if you want to eat at various types of restaurants, then on the other side you can go over the bridge to the suburbs with a mall."

"We moved to Highland as we needed a centralized location for our service business. We are less than 15 minutes to major highways, we can hop on a train to NYC in 10 minutes as well as 2 major hospitals. Major shopping is accessible both in Kingston (20 minutes North) or in Poughkeepsie (10 minutes). Thruway takes you to Paramus and Woodbury in 1 hr. If you are into Hiking and more natural items, New Paltz has tons of activities as well as Northern Ulster. HOWEVER, best of all is now the Walkway, Rail Trail which goes to Hopewell, and Franny Reese park for great walking and hiking along river. History buffs have West Point and all the mansions from the rich of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Nightlife around Highland is very diverse as Poughkeepsie and New Paltz are 10 minutes each way. The beauty of Highand, which is what we love most, is it is a small family oriented town. We can go to Poughkeepsie and wherever, but at the end of the day, we get home to a quiet home to relax. The schools are wonderful, the teachers are hands on, and the community activities for families are never ending. As a local business owner, I can also say businesses are revitalizing, and you will find more Mom & Pop businesses than chain stores in our town (it's nice to walk into a deli and they know you by name!). Hope this helps - A very happy Highland resident. Moving close to the Hamlet offers you quite a bit! However, the mix of homes and residential neighborhoods caters to almost every desire. Best of all, in the fall, drive through the town and you smell the Apples! What more can you ask for! "
