8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averageas a former Blandford school student, my experience was amazing. the only way to fully understand the greatness of this program is to experience it. the teachers push you to your limits and beyond. blandford is the place that I met my 5 best friends, and we are still as close as ever. the way they slip nature into the daily learning is simply amazing. I love when we went into the woods and learned about everything around us. sometimes we would even go out there to have a conversation about math! the teachers create a friendly environment for the kids, while making it easy for us to respect them. I loved every minute of it, even when I was struggling a bit. I hope that this post may convince you to let your child go on to what I thought of as the best experience of my life.Other Review11y ago - John Ball Park Zoo School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe metrics on this school are not as straightforward. As I imagine is the case for many schools that are on this website. In regards to the large gap between test scores and progress, students have a test score requirement to apply. As for progress, our personal experience saw exceptional progress, though not necessarily in test scores. Our student learned how to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines, work with a team, and how to study independently. Also, the metric on teacher to student ratio is off. There are two teachers that teach 2 subjects each and they work with half of the students at a time. The students rotate classrooms. Please do not take these scores at face value. There is so much learning and progress happening at John Ball Park Zoo School. Reach out to the school, or a parent or even a former Zooie themselves. Highly recommend this program.Parent Review1y ago - Congress Elementary

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAll three of my children have either attended or are currently attending. I am so impressed with the welcoming environment, appropriate expectations, and amazing teachers. My children love seeing their old teachers who remember everything about them, many many years later. The other parents at the school are devoted and very welcoming, and invited me into their social events even when I was nervous to do so. I now wish I had been involved sooner. The school was great to adjust all learning needs by having staff available to work independently with both kids who need extra help, and those who are more advanced, so no one is left behind or stagnant in their learning.Parent Review5mo ago - Ottawa Hills High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey care about your grades rather than your mental health. I was in the worst place of my life, I failed on a test, and I explained this to my teacher, that I had too much homework every day and that I have a disability to concentrate, and after all of that, she just simply said, “Well, welcome to city.” No retakes, help in the future, nothing. And that’s one of my teachers. Save yourself your mental health, and don’t go to this school. This was made February 4, 2023, sophomore. Two years at city.Student Review2mo ago - Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagesense the moment i arrived here it has been nothing but constant behavioral issues for the other students. they hit and cuss at the teachers. and nothing happens to these students. the materials we are sought to use are old and writen on scrolled with gang signs . i will not be returning here ext year kids here , are the worst kind , they never stop spreding rumors. kids smoke in the bathrooms its truely terrible.Student Review9y ago - Check out schools near 300 Eureka Ave SE.

"I absolutely love living in East Hills/Eastown! It’s beautiful and there is so much to do. Everything is easy and accessible via bike or walk. The only downside is no convenient grocery store that I like, but everything else is great!"

"The people here are really cool and it has an amazing restaurant and bar scene. Old home with lots of character and a lot of younger people "

"I've lived in my home since 1989. Raised my children and yes still love living here. All kinds of people live here! All generations, cultures, and lifestyles. It really not new. It's always been that way. That's why Eastown, easthills, heritage hill, to Fulton heights has a sign that says "Center of the universe" in the center at Lake Dr. Cherry st and Diamond ave. Yup west of the Paddock mansion. The one with trees he collected along the same latitude as G.R.. all over the world. A100 years ago. That's not the only building on the national historic register. I like that the younger ones are wanting to live and invest in cozy, solid, extremely well built home. Plus you don't have to have your dinner dishes cleaned up after dinner for company. You just close the door. 🤗"

"I have a five minute drive to work and the only downside is the construction and zero off street parking that makes it take longer than 5 minutes"

"Degenerates from Southeast GR and a few rough neighborhoods in this area, still not bad for the most part.. Never had any real issues and I run around at all hours."

"Neighbors are friendly and helpful. The streets are walkable and it is easy to get downtown for concerts and events. Art Prize covers many venues in this area. Busses run up and down Fulton and Lake Dr. It is generally quiet and peaceful."

"East hills is a very nice area. The shops and restaurants around make t a very popular place for events and parties as well as visitors from the suburbs. The streets are safe and walkable. The houses are very beautiful and old. Far enough from downtown to feel calm, close enough to feel vibrant. "

"My neighbors are friendly and walk around the neighborhood. You don’t just wave at them as they drive by. There is a real interesting mix of people with different backgrounds and interests. I learn a lot from their experiences."

"This area offers the best of all that Grand rapids has to offer. Its close enough to downtown to walk and also close to east town and East Grand Rapids. Only downfall is the public school system. Nice restaurants and newly renovated parks! I have lived (rented 6 years ) in the area for about 8 years and bought a house with my husband last year. Love it!"

"We bought our home as an investment allowing our college age children to live here while attending school. The neighborhood has been especially welcoming. There is a Facebook page just for our street and area which shares anything we might want to be aware of, or simply friendly neighbor invites. Upscale restaurants and shops around the corner and easy access to downtown and schools. Homes being renovated and people who look out for one another gets our votes."
