"There is plenty of green space to walk your dog, and most people are good about cleaning up after their pets. Traffic isn’t too heavy, so it’s comfortable to walk with a dog on most sidewalks."

"There are a lot of well-maintained parks and green spaces for walking and playing with dogs. There aren’t many fenced dog parks, but there’s enough room for play time on a longer leash!"

"Work from home but neighborhood is centrally located and easily accessible to major high ways. There seems be less traffic moving south to north compared to traffic moving north to south on MoPac expressway and I-35"

"Trying to leave the area due to the homeless population and the lose and feel of a safe place. It used to be unique with the older homes but as of now they are all being torn down. It’s not the same "

"Work from home. Uber’s are easy downtown. It’s a good neighborhood for young professionals, but probably not families. "

"Terrible. With no traffic my commute to downtown is about 10min. Naturally, I work during typical business hours which means my commute is about an hour. Traffic is terrible everywhere in this city. It’s pretty amazing. "

"There are dogs everywhere! Most restaurants and bars have patios and permit dogs on the premises. They even provide water bowls for you to use. The only negative I can think of was when my apartment complex did DNA testing on all the dogs in the complex. On the upside, they did it to try to get people to clean up after their pets."

"South Lamar has the feel of Austin and is just close enough to all the craziness without being in it every day. The neighborhood has everything you could possibly need. I have 4 grocery stores, 3 gyms, a Target, and countless restaurants, doctor's offices, and groomers within walking distance. Not to mention some closer-to-home nightlife."

"Most drives in Austin take 10—20 minutes. That being said, hundreds of people move here every day, and traffic is on the rise. During peak morning and evening times, a 10-minute drive can sometimes be 20—60 minutes longer. Good thing MoPac added an express lane!"

"This area is awesome. 78704 is the heart beat of South Austin. You are close to all the cool shopping on South Lamar & Congress. Easy access to Hwy 71/290 (Ben White Blvd - Loop 360), restaurants, Central Market, movie theaters, and the new Radio coffee house! It takes about 10 minutes to get downtown on a weekday morning work commute coming down Lamar to Barton Springs, and then South 1st (Guadalupe) into downtown. There you'll find Ladybird lake, the renown hike and bike trail, 6th Street, and all the rest of wonderful downtown Austin. Just take Lamar to downtown, Hwy 71 to the hill country (Fredericksburg ...), or just enjoy 78704 and the vibrancy yet relaxed atmosphere of a wonderful part of Austin! "
