Not a good school to learn at.

I love this school. Located in North Whitehall, it is definitely a school where the kids come from mostly a 2 parent middle class household and the parents are very involved, so the kids are well rounded and polite, good kids. The principal is wonderful and personable and the staff are superb. I have yet to meet a teacher or staff member I didn’t like. The school counselor is absolutely amazing and knows each kid by name so I know my kids are in good hands when I drop them off. The additional support my kids receive is wonderful and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the enthusiastic communication I receive from the school when I reach out with questions or concerns. I love the small feel of the school and how my child is not another number. The class sizes are manageable and most importantly, my kids feel heard and respected and love the school and their friends. I cannot say enough good things about Ironton. It will be hard to top when the kids go off to middle school.

Awful experience. They dropped the ball during the start of the pandemic and e learning. The students were expected to teach themselves and teachers weren’t required to provide synchronous learning. When we reached out to administration for help because my son was floundering we were told that it was essentially my child’s fault and no support was offered. It was a constant blame game from admin/most of the teachers were so overworked and overwhelmed that they didn’t offer much support. The school is too large and too concerned about catering to the athletes and higher performing kids that the lower ones get lost in the shuffle. An absolute horrible experience and such a disappointment.
