9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMVMS really supports kids in the transition stage between elementary and high school, helping to foster independence and self-advocacy while providing a safe and supportive environment in which to develop the education and skills needed. The school provides all kinds of learning and enrichment/club opportunities so that each kid can find their niche, and that applies socially too since it’s just big enough that kids can find their people and social circles.Parent Review4mo ago - Old Mill Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had a combined seven years of experience at Old Mill now, and we could not be happier with our experience. Our children have challenging learning differences as well as advanced academic abilities, and they have been accommodated on both sides beautifully by the faculty at the school. The classroom studies are interesting and at-home work is backed by research (which means reading, some projects, and NO busy work - thank goodness). They get 1-on-1 help when needed, thanks in large part to Kiddo! funding. There are also district-wide efforts to implement on a monthly basis positive character traits in students and their families. My only complaint about curriculum is that Old Mill Park isn't used more extensively in classroom projects. It is such a beautiful resource that's right across the street! At least parents and students make good use of it during after-school gatherings. Speaking of parents: this group of parents is wonderful. I have found so much support in other parents at the school. The friendships go beyond the usual carpool activities (though there is plenty of carpooling!). I have made most of my very best friendships here, and I think that is a result of the size of the school, our ability to volunteer together in the classrooms, and how kind these parents and their kids are in general. We absolutely love Old Mill.Parent Review5y ago - Park Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI bought my home in 1993 in Mill Valley because I Heard that the Public schools in Mill Valley were fabulous. I am a single mother and have raised two beautiful daughters in this community. We chose Park school mainly because it was closest to our house however, I have to say that it was a phenomenal choice!I have nothing but fantastic things to say about the teachers and their devotion to the job! My children are both grown now and found their ways into their dream colleges. Bravo! Park Scool!!Parent Review7y ago - Tamalpais Valley Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTam High has the best programs- better than my college back in the early 70s! The parents are involved, the community is involved- a lot of very talented people live in Mill Valley and they do provide support to the school. My son just graduated and was a top student- there are a lot of top students since the parents mostly are successful yet accessible- not snobby or as class conscious as some other top schools in Marin (although there is a moneyed crowd). Colleges I spoke to have said that Tam is "a competitive high school." So it is well thought of by college admissions. There are programs well funded by the affluent parents. The music program and mock trial for example are top award winners year after year. And the kids are just really nice. They grow uo fast around here, so some kids have to be watched but the school has great support for students such as ADHD types and they learn a lot. But it is not very insulated from realities of pot, etc. But crime isn't an issue. My second will start there in the fall.Parent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 259 Corte Madera Ave.

What Locals Say about Blithedale Canyon

"No sidewalks. Not a lot of flat lots. Not many parks outside of old Mill. Streets are windy and not well lit. "

"Like most of my neighbors, I have lived in this sunny and magical home and town for many years (32) and am leaving only to live part-time in Italy and with family in Florida. The extraordinary Redwood forest beauty of our town and our ease of being active neighbors for all sorts of causes and activities is wonderful. Our easy access to hours and hours of local, state and national hiking rail systems is hard to believe since we are so close to San Francisco!"

"Love being able to hike Mt Tam from my doorstep. Love the wine and food festival every June downtown mill valley. Best wines and restaurants showcase their best offerings."

"I have lived in Mill Valley for 3 years and also work for the City of Mill Valley. This is an amazing city to live, work and play in. The trails and open spaces near and on Mt. Tam make some of the most beautiful views in the world accessible by bike or foot. The community is rich in cultural arts and entertainment. I enjoy the quiet refuge of my home in the hills after a day in the bustling downtown area. The parks are pristine and the community center has an indoor pool, brand new gym, dance studio, large/elegant banquet hall and many meeting/classroom spaces that you can rent for affordable prices. While Mill Valley has a reputation for being “stuck up”, “snotty” and “entitled”, I have not experienced this. I do pay an arm and a leg to live here, but in my opinion it is worth every penny and I have never regretted my decision to move here. The Mill Valley City Council is very responsive to citizen ideas, complaints and suggestions, making residents feel as though they have a voice in building the future of MV. With close proximity to San Francisco and Napa, you are in a great spot to travel and get away when you want. I will rent here until I am ready to buy a home somewhere more affordable."
