2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere’s a big problem with people talking about drugs, violence, gangs, and people bullying others. There’s so many people who’ve experienced harassment physically or sexually at this school but most of them would not want to say their names or the other persons name. I feel like the school is overall 3 stars because some teachers are helpful, some are good, and overall it’s amazing. The social or emotional support you’re getting is quite different honestly if I’m speaking. In terms of academics, it’s fairly decent and not that bad. I wish people at this school would start focusing on their academics and education rather than talking about someone you don’t even know and only knowing it from what you hear.Student Review9mo ago - Shields Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFirst, I liked to say that James Shields School is the best elementary school ever. Second, to the parent who complained about the school on April 27,2012, you don't know Shields as much as us (the students). Have you ever attended that school? No, so why are you complaining? You should be thankful your daughter has an education. I learned a lot from that school and they had always helped me. Not to mention, I got a $2,000 scholarship to Manchester University because of Shields. Mr. Kazz ,the music teacher at shields, has taught students the skills necessary to perform music. Since 6th grade I've been playing music and was in Advanced band all four years of high school. I had schools coming to me offering me more music scholarships to go to their school. Shields did that, they helped me with everything I needed. Maybe you should stop complaining and help your daughter a little more, Just saying.Other Review10y ago - Shields Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is an excellent school. The principal and vice principal work so hard at making this school a great environment For students and staff. The teachers are dedicated to their students. This school environment is friendly and welcoming to parents. The options of after school activities and sports is great. My son thrived at this school. He made friends, excelled in his studies. I am so happy we choose shields middle school.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 2539 W 46th St.

"I've lived all my life, 45 years and neighborhood has changed a lot. l do have to go out at night and i have never felt threatened. Hard working people, some section eight, Some blocks still have block parties. i still feel safe here,a lot of dogs and kids. But the city keeps cutting trees down, so not a lot of trees. Near Orange line and Archer Ave. which has great places to eat and, is the main artery to anywhere you need to go. Great location to live in."
