2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI hesitate to give the school a bad review as many of the problems the school has are not really the fault of faculty and staff. But to be completely honest in the review of the school one has to talk about these things. The students at the school are simply influenced and involved by their surroundings outside of school. The neighborhood is not good at all, high crime, gangs, drugs etc. Unfortunately, the teachers and other staff can’t do much about student discipline when they live in a bad environment.Other Review4y ago - Whitney M Young Jr Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs stated earlier in my review of this school, Pre-k thru 2nd, I would highly recommend this school, but when it comes to the upper levels (3rd-5th), the school has a lot of weaknesses. If some, not all, of the upper level teachers & leaders of the school could get along, (tension) wouldn't AFFECT the student's learning & growth environment, which it has, and their test score would probably improve significantly. In other words, do not let how you feel about one another spill over into the classroom and negatively impact the students. I'm sure most you went to college to have a positive impact in students' lives. I'm who I am today because of good, wholesome, old-school teachers and counselors who cared for my well-being. :)Parent Review6y ago - Sarah Zumwalt Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome kids are amazing but most are not. Most of the boys touch girls without their permission. Also alot of fights and most girls just hoe around and students manipulate other students. If you get bullied they do nothing or just suspended you. Also teachers are so rude and mean to students btw a teacher hits students.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 2426 Lyola St.

"Every couple months a crew comes and tears up the intersection at one end of my block for a few months. Eventually they fix it, but a couple months later they come back. This has been happening for two years now. "

"It’s central to everything. Seven minutes to downtown Dallas, 3 to 5 minutes to lower Greenville five minutes to central expressway and the highways. It’s pretty ideal."

"If you don’t like walking your dog on a leash to you’ll fit right in around here. It’s not great because people like hauling it down side streets to avoid the constant construction that slows down the larger streets around here. But at least if your dog gets hit by a car it will probably die quickly thanks to the speed that people are driving. "

"You will 70% step on poop. Living in an apartment complex, there are plenty of owners who will allow their dog to defecate, pee and throw up in elevators and stairs. Irresponsible owners and sometimes untamed/unsocialized dogs. I would beware of coyotes and keep an eye out for scraps left by homeless people near the transit. "
