Looking to rent our fully-furnished home in North Berkeley for 10-11 months (August to June or July, we have some flexibility on start and end dates).

This home is one of the most unique in Berkeley, sitting on a large lot across a wood bridge that crosses a seasonal creek. Deer roam the neighborhood, there are crickets at night, and you can be forgiven for thinking you live somewhere very removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. And yet just a 5 minute walk away is Solano Ave, with restaurants, a grocery store, a new climbing gym, a bakery, coffee shops, etc. This unique combination of serene peace combined with walkability is what makes this property so special.

Besides the oversized yard, which is a maze of nooks and crannies for both kids and adults of all ages to get lost in, the home itself is a charming built-in-1921 piece of California history. Period details abound, from the unique crown molding to the double chimney fireplace. There is even a small view of the bay and San Francisco from the main living room window. The kitchen is fully updated, with Thermador appliances. There is a full pantry with a "baking corner", complete with a second oven, dedicated counter, etc. The washer and dryer in this pantry space is also extremely convenient.

There is a small bedroom on the main floor that we have used as an office, with beautiful windows overlooking the oak trees in the yard. Upstairs are the main 3 bedrooms, two of which are used by our kids. These can of course be configured with beds for adults (or older kids) if you wish, and we are happy to help with coordinating that. There is one communal bathroom upstairs that is very nicely done, with a double shower and oversized tub.

Photos still include many of our things, and we are more than happy to remove (or leave) whatever you want.

All utilities are included (electric, gas, water, sewage, garbage, internet). House cleaner included. Yard maintenance included.

We are a family of 5 spending a year abroad, and looking for someone who will take good care of our home.

Fully furnished, but can add or remove furniture (re-configured kids rooms to regular beds, for example).

Now that I’ve lived in Palo Alto, Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia, Manhattan—and raising my own three children in Brooklyn—it’s clear to me that this neighborhood is a uniquely special, sometimes magical, place to grow up. I wish I could move it to Brooklyn!"

There are frequent assaults reported in the area. I make a point to only walk my dog during the day and without headphones in, so that I can be aware of my surroundings. "
