2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAside from a few very caring teachers, the staff is unapproachable. I had a problem with one of the students in my class, so I went to the guidance office to switch classes on the first day of school. As I was explaining my situation with tears in my eyes, the woman at the desk then coldly told me that I have to talk to the principal about it and she would not schedule an appointment with the guidance counselor. I was so upset that I ended up just leaving school and going home. The next day, I asked principal Laue to change classes and he seemed irritated and then told me I could only take a study hall then and wrote in all caps across my whole sheet of paper, “STUDY HALL ONLY.” As I was walking out of his office, I let out a sigh as I have anxiety and I was trying to calm myself down. He shouts after me, “Did you just sigh at me?! I just did you a huge favor!” I’ve been a great student. Always had over a 3.5 GPA and took honors and AP classes and this is how I was treated. Many of the teachers only care about the star athletes and not the students who genuinely care about their education. Bullying is just brushed aside as no one wants to deal with it. As far as the curriculum, it’s standard compared to neighboring schools. Their offering of advanced placement and honors classes is a plus.Other Review1y ago - Washington Elementary School

"Have lived in Janesville my entire life. There are areas that have the small town feels, was well as city life feels. Mostly nice neighborhoods, family oriented, parks, bike trails, and feels like home. "

"My commute is really safe and comfortable to live in. I've been living here since 1997 and haven't had one problem. It's quiet here, with a good school system and low crime rate. The only complaint I would have is the property taxes are to high."

"you can't take dogs to very many parks or walk ways and people that are dog owners don't pick up after them. I am a dog owner and I pick up after my dog but see to many people who don't. "

"I drive everywhere. Live in a great neighborhood but not near any stores. It’s not a major issue since there are 3 bus stops that you can see on my street. Local stores are a few miles away so not horrible but would be a long walk."

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years . The neighbors are friendly and the street pretty quiet. There is a park down the block and the city trail goes behind my house . Walking distance to elementary , junior and high school is very convenient for families with children."
