8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved to Carmel, Indiana for the low cost of living and "great" schools. Unfortunately, we didn't realize what we were missing until we moved away. The Smoky Row school seriously lacks science and mathematics education for the students. The school rarely if ever has the students perform in school plays, musicals, etc. and when they do, the parents are NOT invited (except for one Thanksgiving song for Kindergartners). The school does a poor job of educating students about U.S. and world history. When we transferred to another elementary school out of state, our kids were placed in a *remedial* program because they were so far behind. Thankfully they recovered and they are now top performers at their new school. We learned a big lesson, a 10 in Indiana is not the same as a 10 in other states.Parent Review7y ago - Carmel High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averageas a previous student, it’s an ok school. there are a lot of teachers who really care and try their best, but it’s just so crowded. I had almost no classes with less than 30 people, with my biggest being like 40. mostly accepting if you’re in more of the nerdier/honors classes side of things, but not as much in other groups. i am still annoyed by a mindful minute where we were told to “push down the sadness and negative emotions” because ah yes great idea bottle up your feelings. the long and the short is, it’s ok as a school but very overcrowded and kinda clique-yOther Review1y ago - Check out schools near 13775 Boiler Pl.

"Everyone seems to have a dog and walk them often! We’re only allowed 2 dogs in my condo but people who own their own homes often have three and have fenced in yards for dogs to play in. We also have a dog park in Carmel."

"Carmel is definitely the best city I’ve ever lived in! It has the most amazing school system and I’ve literally experienced zero crime since being here. I can let my girls walk on the Monon trail throughout Carmel and not worry about them and my eight-year-old can ride her bike up and down our street with no fear of anything happening to her! I would never ever leave Carmel! And neighbors are the best definitely look out for one another! "

"Extremely safe and feel at ease letting my 8yr old play outside ! Never ever had any issues what so ever w crime. Super close to any and everything u could possibly need as far as shopping etc.. the schools are best in the state and teachers are amazing, also right on the monon trail almost anywhere in Carmel u live is a few min walk to the trail which is also very safe ! Our neighborhood has block parties and holiday parties ! Would highly recommend anyone to move here. Only negative is that it’s of course quite costly to live here but I guess if u couldn’t afford it u wouldn’t be here looking into moving here!! "

"Great parks and libraries, the best public schools in the Midwest, and very safe community. I would have no issues letting my kids play outside late or biking far distances as this is a very family focused community. Farmers market on weekends. And lots of amazing restaurants and wineries. Also great holiday events and festivals such as forth of July celebrations and annual street art festivals with vendors. "

"I moved from Los Angeles; so what they call traffic here is cute! It is a lot of side streets. The main problem is that Hoosiers love to run red lights because of no traffic cameras, it’s annoying. "

"The traffic is horrible and construction is nonstop. Indy has 1 million people but one beltway around the city that is full of potholes, debris on shoulders, and roadway too small to handle growth and commute from Carmel and Fishers into Indy."

"I have several neighbors with breed specific fear. They tend to overreact when we they see a completely non-aggressive shepherd or pit bull. Be prepared for a lot of neighbors to repeatedly assert their opinions. I have a few neighbors whose dogs travel into our yard frequently, which I don’t mind, but is odd to think that one can allow there dogs to roam (or even nip at children)while challenging others because they imagine what the animal could do, based on breed."

There are many organized community events planned throughout the year from the year-round Carmel Farmer’s Market, activities in the Carmel Arts and Design district, the holiday Christkindlmarket and winter ice skating at Center Green, there is always something to do."
