"It’s Silicon Valley so most days the roads are jammed. I try to leave later than most people. When going up to San Francisco I take the CalTrain. The California Avenue station is in walking distance."

"We moved here 4 days before our first child was born. Since then we have enjoyed the Palo Alto Unified School district and the great experience our 3 daughters have had through Paly High. We walk to restaurants on California Avenue and to the Cal Train station there on a regular basis. The architecture from the 30s is exactly what we like, and it is still the main theme in our neighborhood, although most of the houses are updated inside and very well kept."

"Wonderful neighborhood, exceptional schools, shops, parks, weather, what more can you ask for?"
- Scott D.

"Old Palo Alto is one of the best neighborhoods in Palo Alto - but its hard to say there are any bad neighborhoods in Palo Alto. I love the tree lined streets and the character of the homes - most of which were built in the 20's and 30's. I've found the neighbors to be very community oriented - this is a neighborhood people choose to live in because they want their kids to go to the neighborhood public schools and they want to be able to walk to stores and restaurants on California Ave, University Ave or the Town and Country shopping center. Stanford University is a short bike ride or walk and we try to take advantage it - taking our kids to the Stanford museums, attending talks or sporting events. For our friends that are looking to buy homes in this area, they are often trying to decide between buying in Palo Alto (which tends to be more expensive) or buying in Los Altos or Menlo Park. The tradeoffs are paying a bit more in Palo Alto for the schools, the community and walking access to great downtown resources vs. getting a slightly larger home/lot in Los Altos or Menlo Park."
