2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school (class of '10) and I have to say that my overall experience at this school was okay. When I went there I experienced rampant homophobia and taunting...I remember my teachers being very passionate and strict about what they did, and a lot of the students not caring so much about their education. The teachers kept a strong grip on the classroom, but there were still a lot of disruptions with them having to deal with behavior issues. To top that off, every year there was at least one big fight, and I remember in my 4th Grade year a student knocking over an elderly staff member during one of them. Aside from my peers with behavior issues, the majority of them were very caring and kind. Rowen was not the best the best experience for an elementary school, but considering the other options out there in the School District of Philadelphia, it was not as bad as it could have been. Honestly, if you live in the area you should try to transfer your children to Jenks, and if that does not work get them out of the school promptly after Kindergarten or 1st Grade.Other Review9y ago - Wagner Gen Louis Middle School

"Not enough sidewalks …. And there are a lot of stray dogs that roam the area any time of the day , also people drive pretty fast so you have to always watch out for speeding cars "

"It's a horrible neighborhood. Dirty, loud, violent. Police don't respond to quality of life crimes: loud music, drug dealing, loitering, open marijuana smoking. Eateries are of low qualities. Neighborhood should be burnt to the ground. "

"Like most areas in Philadelphia, Germantown is starting to see gentrification. People love the older Victorian style homes that are one of a kind. I've been here now for close to 10 years and the area is definitely seeing new capital investments, in [structures & wonderful people]."

"I've lived in this neighborhood for 5 years. We have alot of good things here such as neighborhood, pubic transportation routes via Septa. Nights some blocks are well lit little hidden blocks may not be . Wister street is horrible from metal plates and the street is just jacked up... It gets hot sometimes around these areas it has peak seasons neighbors are all lind they speak. we have alot of abandoned cats in the area some pitbulls. wouldn't trade the diversity for anything... "
