6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have always been an honor roll student, and that continued at NHS, however I wouldn't say the staff played a big roll in this. A lot of the time I had to teach myself material, and even more often I would have to teach my peers the material. There have been countless days I come home stressed out about the amount of unnecessary homework I have accumulated, and the students themselves have some of the lowest school spirit I have ever seen in a high school. There is also a very very VERY limited selection of classes to choose from. There is no culinary, no wood shop etc... when it comes time to choose your electives you basically have to choose between ceramics, drama, and AP Calculus/Stats/Trig. The technology is outdated, and the campus is starting to get old, but they are starting to renovate and get new supplies. On top of this, there is a group for everybody to fit into, there has only been one physical fight in my four year experience at NHS, and the office staff are very helpful.Student Review4y ago - Lange (Dorothea) Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've had one daughter graduate from Dorothea Lange and another just entered Kindergarten this year. Our oldest went from being threated to be held back from her school in Nevada to becoming a top reader. She loved all of her teachers and counselor. Though in high school now, she has visited them several times and keeps in contact with several. Our K-schooler loves her teachers and loves going to school. The worst thing about Lange is the parking/drop off in the morning. The academic programs and teacher involvement are top notch. "Very quiet, great neighbors, no crime, no graffiti, no homeless bums. Very few rentals in this area. Everyone minds their own business. Most neighbors are retired working people. Nobody moves, so lots of long time homeowners here. Overall, a safe neighborhood."

"We moved here because its rural, but after having children and not having sidewalks it is not exactly a perfect family place unless you like driving your kids everywhere. The privacy is great, but again, its nothing like living in the burbs where you can walk safely to the store on a sidewalk on a busy street. But, I will say they love it here and if you want mellow, then this is totally the place for you. Horse and pet friendly!"
