Description
This property is not currently for sale or for rent on Trulia. The description and property data below may have been provided by a third party, the homeowner or public records.
3-bed, 2 bath mid-century family home in one of Seattle's most beautiful neighborhoods. This home also has a large family room/study, spacious laundry room, patios in front and back, double-paned windows, fireplaces upstairs and downstairs, hardwood floors, 2-car garage, very well built, super quiet and comfy. Our home is located in lovely Blue Ridge, a planned community from the 1950s, and one of Seattle's finest neighborhoods. The neighborhood is very family-oriented, with urban forests, hiking trails, parks, private beach access, and a private community pool, clubhouse and tennis courts. Planned neighborhood events include Christmas Party, Holloween Party, Monthly Movie Nights, Gourmet Dinner, New Year's Polar Bear Swim and more. There are lots of children of all ages. Very safe community near excellent public and private schools. Wonderful neighbors. We have rented our home three times in the past through Sabbatical Homes and the renters felt extremely welcomed by the neighbors and their children made friends quickly. Children can also join the Blue Ridge Swim Team, Polo Team, Tennis Team, take swim and tennis lessons, and all the family can enjoy the community pool for lap swimming and play (May - Sept) and the tennis courts all year. The 2,000+ sq. foot house overlooks the woods of Carkeek Park, and is located on a 12,000 sq. foot wooded/northwest native lot which gives the feeling of a private retreat. Large raised bed vegetable garden plots. On a bus line that goes to downtown Seattle. 15 minute drive to the University of Washington. 10 minutes from the restaurants/shops of Ballard, Seattle's hip, historical neighborhood. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is my child’s second year at North Beach. She has excelled past expectations thanks to her teacher and all the resources available to her provided by the school district and provided by the extra funds raised by the PTA. I want to move house, but I don’t want to remove my child from this school. I feel so fortunate that we are in such a good community with excellent schools.Parent Review1y ago - Whitman Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am writing from my own family's perspective. My child is smart, capable and attentive -- and students like this are utterly ignored at Whitman, save by a few very skilled and committed teachers. I cannot speak to other types of students or the school's or district's efforts to support them. But over three years at Whitman (one entirely remote during the pandemic, and we were willing to give the school a pass there), my child only worked hard and learned in only a few classes. The rest of the time she was BORED and unchallenged and routinely just left to read on her own, or watch videos on her phone, or whatever when she finished her work. That is unacceptable. Summary: - A few math teachers and one history teacher were excellent and managed to teach appropriately to the wide variety of skill levels of students in the class. Which is hard to do, I understand, but it should be managed better than this.- The rest of her teachers were not unpleasant. They just mostly failed to teach smart kids who learn quickly. She spent hours every day doing nothing. I don't think she read an entire book and did a thorough project/book report in English class over three years. (There was some in-class, out-loud reading; strange for an 8th grade class.) There was almost nothing substantive in science, over all three years, and no real hands-on experiments. - There is a serious lack of electives available. If your student does not do Spanish or music (highly recommend doing these, if your child goes to Whitman!), which continue through the whole year, there are simply not enough semester-long options for the kids to take. So they end up being "TAs," which essentially means doing nothing, again. No one told us that in advance. We were really disappointed with this school. We expected better from Seattle Public Schools. Highly capable students should be able to receive a solid education from their neighborhood school. We were not asking for amazing, just for pretty good.Parent Review5mo ago - Check out schools near 1221 NW Norcross Way.

"This is a quiet neighborhood inside the city. We are equidistant from two of the best restaurant scenes in north Seattle and within walking distance to golden gardens. Love this place "

"We have beautiful golden gardens and Ballard within (a long) walking distance... but it still feels like our backyard. The neighborhood is quiet yet close to the city so the commute doesn’t feel bad at all. There are tons of great restaurants and the Ballard farmers market is one of our favorite things in the city. Additionally the locks, discovery park and green lake are close and great places to be in nature. "

"There is gorgeous foliage, everyone keeps their lawn fairly well maintained, and there are parks and beaches within walking distance"

"I bought my residence in this area because of the quiet, woodsy environment very close to Golden Gardens Park and Beach, as well as a good dog park at the park. There are 3 bus lines, to downtown Seattle, Downtown Ballard, and the University of Washington within 3 blocks from our residence."

"Blue Ridge is one of Seattle's most treasured neighborhoods. Neighborhood membership offers private swimming pool, tennis courts, saltwater beach, two parks, clubhouse, and much more. "
