"Rockaway Park is unique because it is a beach town with nice neighborhoods but cold winters. It can be expensive to live here though. "

"Public transportation is nearby, but the buses run more regularly than the Shuttle train. During normal hours it comes about every 15-20 minutes which is not helpful for a daily commute."

"Long commute to Manhattan especially for being a part of NYC. It’s often an hour and half on the subway. The ferry is much more comfortable but you would still have take the subway uptown. "

"The beach and boardwalk is a great place to walk ur dogs day or night it’s a very safe and quite and people friendly neighborhood the only thing they might not like walking ur dog is other feisty dogs like barking at each other on the boardwalk for some reason but other then that it a wonderful place to walk or jog with your pet"

"50 minute train ride into manhattan. 20 min ride to king’s plaza. I work in Nassau county - takes me 30 min without traffic; coming home takes me between 50-60 min depending on the season (beach crowd worsens the commute in the summer)."

"Lots of space, very few loiters, very few beggars, very quite, well maintained, very low crime, the community love the Policemen, transportation is very accessible, the beaches are clean most neighbors are concerned about one another, the school kids, although they come from surrounding neighborhoods, they behave very orderly. Rockaway Park is a great place to live and raise a family"

"Rockaway is seeing a comeback. Houses are being bought and fixed up and rented right away. New housing has been announced and the beach is beautiful as ever. There is a neighborhood spotlight on bad owners who dont manage their properties very well and that has been a big help for Rockaway. This is also a great rental property with 3 apartments, its spotless and ready to go."

"Rockaway beach 116th street and up, is the place to live. It's extremely boring. the most exciting thing that's happened in my twenty six years living here was the motorcycle accident that happened when I was around twelve. The mediocre selection of food leaves you wanting. If you're even remotely ethnic, the irish bars aren't for you after dark. The only benefit to living here is the beach, but then you can't even park on the street during summer, unless you pay for it at the over crowded Beach 116th street. We lost the great diner years ago, have only one GREAT italian place to eat. I'll shorten this review to this: If you're boring and you know it, move to rockaway! You'll be your happiest."

"this is the most amazing place to live....it is a secret throwback to simplier times when children were polite and helpful and teachers and parents interacted.....it is a place where people get to know each other and help each other because that is the way things should be... I truly cant think of a more wonderful place to live...."
