6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen I moved to this school, I looked everywhere online to find more information about it. This review will attempt to cover everything that I had once wanted to see. I will attempt to give a positive for every negative I have. The academics here are sort of lacking. Most of the classes are geared towards kids who could not pass standardized testing (ISTEP) and even the honors classes are behind what better schools can offer. Therefore, I encourage everyone to take AP and dual credits as soon as possible because these classes have most of the best teachers of the school. The student culture here can be a little toxic. While there is a lot of encouragement towards clubs and sports, many students label those who work hard as "try-hards." Cheating is also a large issue at this school and makes homework sort of pointless to assign in the first place, but this isn't that big of an issue because most of the kids who cheat fail their tests. Karma!Overall, you can find good teachers and classes to take here so long as you fit into the accepted mold. So long as you can make the most of what is provided, you will thrive.Suggestion: if interested in harder classes or more specialized instruction, apply to Signature School or one of EVSC's pullout programs.Student Review4y ago - Helfrich Park Stem Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child tells us virtually ALL the students at this school use bad language; as in 4 letter words. We've noticed things that we would change here, that is one of them and is an indicator. There was very little of that allowed years ago and only in high school did it get more common. We've also noticed problems with some staff but disregarding students doesn't matter apparently. Because of this, our child is losing desire in things they once had an interest in. We've had to help with homework that at least once or twice was excessive; and more at a level expected in High School or even College to complete. Some homework is required even before the students arrive in class. Our child has lost sleep and gone to bed late trying to get an assignment submitted over the internet before the night deadline. Students have to juggle a lot otherwise they'll slip behind easily and they'll never catch up.Parent Review5y ago - Tekoppel Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was fortunate enough to meet one on one with the principal before the school year, and chose NTI for my son based on the opportunities and benefits available to him at this particular school. Their structure and schedule is not the same as other schools, and I believe their philosophy and teaching strategies provide an advantage for the students. Beyond the ideology, on a personal level, I have been made to feel very unwelcome by every staff member I've been in contact with since the beginning of school. Surely there are wonderful teachers in the building, but overall the staff has been condescending and rude. I would hope that even when dealing with people like myself who are apparently unintelligent and undesirable, professional staff who deal with the public could feign respect long enough to communicate effectively and without passive aggressive undertones.Parent Review4mo ago - Check out schools near 118 SE 1st St #1B.

"Little to none public transportation, traffic isn’t to bad getting on to the highway. Just try staying away from the school buses if possible"

"Has a city downtown feel, yet in a small community. Quite a few restaurants and a couple bars in the area, basically a lot within walking distance. Being able to park the car most weekends is great, am hopeful to see enough growth there is a another market downtown."

"Plenty of dogs in the neighborhood, lots of space for dog walking. Downtown strikes me as pet friendly if not more so than the burbs."
