3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJohnson is a school with great potential, unfortunately this potential will not be realized for another 10 years. I would most definitely send my child here, but only because I want them to become street smart before entering college. I can attest to the quality of education Johnson provides to it's students, my family has had hundreds of Johnson graduates. The East Side community is the only thing holding this school together, so if you're comfortable with that mentality, then this is the school for you. If not, then I would look else where. The East Side has an extreme sense of identity, most of which has been lost or misconstrued into selfish pride on the current generations attending the school. Students with little supervision at home will struggle here! They will become subject to adult issues very rapidly and need much more attention than the school can afford. Get your child into the ROTC program! They may be ostracized by their peers a bit, but you won't regret it when they aren't repeating high school courses in college. Trust me on that! Some of the finest students in the city represent Johnson, but the same can be said about poorest performing students.Other Review11y ago - Battle Creek Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagedid not at all like this school. My daughter was considently bullied. The teachers in the hall did NOTHING to curb, the disrespect, that alot of students did. Everytime I walked into that school, students were constitently, swearing at the staff, It was envirnoment, I did not want my child in. And they locked the students up in the school, like animal, which I have to say, some of them were, the way they acted. Awful schoolParent Review9y ago - Hazel Park Preparatory Academy

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt is very unwelcoming and teaçhers and staff are unprofessional. They don't reach out when there are issues until it is far too late and then came to me with a negarive hatered lens toward my child.Parent Review6mo ago - Check out schools near 1105 Minnehaha Ave E #1.

What Locals Say about Dayton's Bluff

"Too much petty crime, the last year or so has been trending more and more towards more violent incidents. Anyone trying to earn and save to get out of here likely gets robbed and winds up having to live here in this stupid cycle a little longer. Best to just avoid it all together if you’re looking at property here. "

"Great neighborhood for dog owners. The park is close. I grew up here, moved away and came back. It’s a nice little neighborhood that nobody knows about.....yet "

"I find the Trulia crime map accurate for my area. Quality of neighborhoods can change block to block. Look for areas with lower crime and less rental property for children to be able to connect with more stable neighbors. "

"Visiting from Canada, it is easy to see the benefits of Dayton’s Bluff and St. Paul, Mn. One highlight is the close proximity to schools and bussing. That, and the ability to walk to a variety of pub trivia locales (where I personally tend to thrive)"
