I expected a lot more given the reputation of the school district, but there is nothing special here.With taxes what they are here, you'd figure there would be the opportunity to do something unique and forward thinking in the Conejo Valley, but it's pretty standard fare.Spanish language class from the jump? Nope, you have to wait until 8th grade (meanwhile some schools in LA have dual language immersion from kindergarten). WAY too much homework every day, and even on most weekends.Some (most?) of the homework is clearly just busywork.Most teachers seem nice, but def not all.All of the work is assigned virtually through Canvas, so expect your child to be on a computer for hours on end every afternoon, staring into the screen, just a few clicks away from its distractions and temptations. Let's just say the middle-school mind is not well equipped to avoid such distractions. And rather than look for the solution to a problem in the actual textbook (even the online version), it is much easier for kids to just google it.Choir program lost its teacher to another local-ish school a few years back and hasn't recovered yet.Awesome crossing guard though who does a great job protecting the kids!Parent Review1y ago - Westlake High School

The school provides free food to all students, the staff is friendly & the campus is beautiful. Day 1 we were greeted & escorted to the office, my son felt welcome the minute he stepped foot on campus. 8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child absolutely loves this school. We started at a different school in the district before moving to WLE. The first school was also great, but not like Westlake Hills. The teachers are all incredible. We were told all of the first grade teachers were A+, and couldn't have been happier with who she was with. The second grade teacher managed to be just as strong as her first grade teacher. I have been so happy to see my child continue to grow an interest in learning, reading and exploring new topics she's learning in school. I have not found a single parent or kid we talk to that doesn't love this school. "I have loved here for many years and had to raise my son here. Everything is forbidden for children, they can’t rise their bike in the path, or skate board when they are teen. There is no cultural center. It’s as suburban as it get. "

"I used to live in Westlake and I wish I was still there. It is certainly the cleanest, beautiful and most safe area one could live in. The temperature in perfect all year round as they get the lovely breeze from Malibu as it is located near the Santa Monica mountains. I know people move there for the schools, great shopping and the lake for great walks and wonderful restaurants at the Landing. "

"This lovely gated community in Westlake Village is a peaceful retreat from the hectic city, but only minutes away from everything. Walk to the lake, stroll the boardwalk, dine in one of the waterfront restaurants, or simply enjoy the ambiance. The community abuts the National Preserve, with wonderful hiking trails just a step away. "
