Description
This is one of Kansas City's coveted historic buildings built in 1902-1903 that were restored in 2017. The Colonnades consists of four self-sufficient buildings and 34 apartments in total overlooking Armour Blvd. Walking up to The Colonnades, you will see mature trees lining the street. This provides a shaded grass area leading up to the front porches supported by the beautiful white columns of each building. As you approach, you will notice the historic detail preserved, but entering each apartment will give you a sense of modern living. The wood floors(basement units have matching plank flooring) were restored, and the historic windows remain intact, providing a ton of natural light in each unit. "This is one of the most dog-friendly neighborhoods in Kansas City. You'll find a dog bag dispenser on nearly every block. We have a lovely tennis court and a park. The neighbors are generally laid back and friendly. There are some petty car crimes in the area but that's just city life. I've lived here for about 7 years, and it gets better every year. "

"I would not recommend that anyone moved to this neighborhood. In the many years that I’ve lived here, I routinely seen drug use drug overdose prostitution violent assault in decent exposure public intoxication and breaking in entering many times. They’re also homeless who will go on the porches and into small enclaves to go to sleep. Of course sometimes they’re completely harmless but other times not."

"I love the location. people are nice. average suburb neighborhood. close to south county, cheap taxed, good schools. what is not to like? "

"This is an area I've seen improve over the last years as the Main Street Improvment Committee and funding supported by local taxes has raised up the quality of the infrastructure with lighting, road improvements, tree planting and such. More young folk are moving to urban from suburban areas in appreciation of being near shopping and entertainment districts. This location is great for that."
