"Maplewood is a weird city. The very north end is way up past 36, and then it weaves in between St. Paul neighborhoods all the way south down by battle creek. For that reason it is hard to review the area as a whole, because it is so different from North to South. The very north end is though considered the best area due to the amenities and overall location. You are close to lakes, parks, golf, restaurants, the maplewood mall off White Bear has everything, or jump on 36 and head over to the Rosedale Mall over in Roseville. You are close to a short drive over to Stillwater which is a awesome spot to go on the East side. Or maybe you head to downtown White Bear Lake North. That is the advantage of being close to 36 is you are very close to everything commute wise. That city White Bear though in general is much more expensive then Maplewood, so to live on the very north end you get to be close with all the amenities and not pay the high home prices of White Bear! The only thing different is the schools, which may matter to some but not everyone. If you are not a local you may not understand Maplewood since it has so many parts, but get the location right and you are buying into a very reasonable price range with everything that other people pay much much more for."
