Read what parents are saying about Laramie Middle SchoolIf laramie offer more then one full size middle school, I won't recommend. We came from the city thinking the small town is the way to go, unfortunately for our family it wasn't. The school lack leadership. The teacher might be the only bright spot. The coaches don't know what doing. It seems like they watched a YouTube video and that is all that is required. The school lack diversity, but can't fault the school for that. But you can fault for school for not making it a welcoming place for minorities. If moving to laramie for there educational opportunities for child I would tell you to do your research.
Posted by a parent on 8/30/2023My children are doing well in this school. My daughter had come from a charter school and within weeks her grades and knowledge improved. My son was in the horrible tradition into 6th grade were boys tend to lose focus. The teachers emailed me and were on top of it. The teachers care. However, the kids and parents need to care too. Teachers in any school will give up when a child and parent are continually unresponsive and irresponsible. This school will help kids but they won't do it for them.
Posted by a parent on 3/24/2017I was a student of Laramie Junior High. It was like being stuck in a prison. It was even designed like a prison with a square shape and a cement courtyard that was not fixed up and we never entered it. (This was the old school). The teachers were HORRIBLE, but then so were the students so you can't blame them. An absolutely miserable experience.
Posted by a community member on 3/30/2015LJHS has been incredible for our son. We moved from the Southeast where the schools were not good at all. He could turn junk in and get As which taught him to be lazy. Here, he is learning what hard work means and the rigor is MUCH higher. The principal is very involved and has instituted positive behavior support programs school-wide. My son is making friends quickly and has a HUGE array of activities and sports to choose from. The parents overall are involved in their kids' education which is good for everyone. The teachers are very caring and there are many internal programs for students who need that little extra support. LJHS has been wonderful for our son. The previous reviews were written prior to the new principal.
Posted by a parent on 10/3/2014LJHS has been a good school for my daughter, not a great school, but certainly better than average. Basics such as English and Math have been taught by teachers who seemed to care and be interested in what the kids they were teaching would be leaving with. There are a handful of teachers I would not recommend after my daughter being there two years. While some revieweers seemed to think things there were really strict, I did not see enough discipline. The dress code was not enforced and some kids just seemed as though they were drifting through. This is not something I would blame the school for; I think parents should take more responsibility for the education their child receives, and this school has very little parent involvement. While a small amount of children seem supported by their parents, there was always limited attendance at academic or artistic performances, though sports in general seemed well-attended by adults. Ii have known the principal there for years, and I think he does an adequate job, considering all the restaraints placed on educators today. Any school can be a great school if parents are willing to work for that extra achievement.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy rating is based on how their preschool wait list is handled. Their preschool is funded with grant money from the state. With money coming from the taxpayer, you would think that priority would go to those with low income and on a first come, first serve basis. This is not the case - at least not completely. The teacher of the preschool program does make sure that she fulfills the requirements for lower income families to maintain her grant status, but beyond that, she will provide her close personal friends with the remaining spots by giving them insider information regarding deadlines and availability of paperwork and registration. It's not right, and it provides some specially selected families with primary status - all on the taxpayers dime.Parent Review12y ago - St. Laurence School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA great school where every child knows, honors, and respects each other. Value-based education where everyone is encouraged to learn at his/her own level. Spanish, Latin, art, music, basketball, running team, dance club, and newspaper club make this a great school!Parent Review10y ago - Laramie Christian School
