As I read a lot of the reviews about this school much of them seem out of date or written by a disconnected parent. As someone who attended this school for more than eight years, and later transitioned into the public high school I know first hand the quality of the academics at this school. Firstly I will start by saying A LOT changed in a recent year. It almost angers me to see that people hold St. Joseph's at a higher academic standard than the public schools this is erroneous. When I entered high school I quickly realized that the academic performance of St. Joseph's was not all that it was all talked up to be. I found others who went to public schools had a more sophisticated knowledge of core subjects such as, Geography, history, science, reading, and writing. A new lack of leadership at the school has caused many problems, as a result, the quality of education has suffered. In recent year the school has experienced the loss of some great teachers. This has left a void that the school struggles to fill, farther more lowering the quality of education. This school does not have the resources to challenge gifted students or provide extra help to those who need it. To address the other raving reviews I would say that unfortunately, they are no longer true, or written by a parent who does not have a complete understanding of St. Joseph's. Contrarily there are pros in areas other than academics. This school provides a very intimate social experience and the opportunity to grow very close to your teachers and classmates. In conclusion, the school lacks the leadership within the staff, or the resources to provide a superior academic environment for students. However, it does provide a very morally orient setting with a good sense of family.
