Read what parents are saying about Northwest CatholicRepeat offenders (bullies) have little to no punishment and little behavior modification and still continue to return from year to year. This is unacceptable for a school that has a zero tolerance policy on bullying. The upper campus has had a change in staff mid year (they are a repeat replacement staff) and both times this person has taken over the children they have taught have fallen behind. No amount of communication with the principal has changed the fact that they've hired a replacement teacher that is not suited to teach the level of education the children currently need. Experience means nothing when someone is not current on what is being taught. This will come to light come fall when the children take their tests. No amount of excuses can make up for what the children are missing out on. Instead any concern is met with a sweep it under the rug mentality and hostility. Last I checked teachers are there to teach and should know what they are teaching in order to accomplish that goal. It's not fair to the children that they get saddled with a replacement that is subpar when surely there was someone more educated for the job even with few yrs teaching experience.
Posted by a parent on 2/24/2014This school's focus is on the fundamentals. The teachers and staff work closely with parents to make sure students are learning the things they need to be successful. Before and after school care programs are really helpful for working parents. The administration really tries to host events that help create a sense of community.
Posted by a parent on 10/25/2013My daughter attended this East campus of NWC from K5-2nd grade. We left last school year. The administration had poor communication w/ parents and staff. My daughter was physically assaulted by other kids on the playground and I was not informed. Problem children repeatedly violated policies and were allowed to come back year after year. Students were disrespectful to each other and formed groups based on adult TV shows like the Bad Girls Club. Bullying should be zero tolerance and I did not see that happen. The school changed greatly during the 3 years we were there. Programs were dropped and a lot of administrative changes took place. On a positive note, the teachers were awesome, always making me feel welcome & part of a community and were always available.
Posted by a parent on 5/19/2013This school and it's sister school are falling apart rapidly. I can say this because my child has gone to both schools and every year things go downhill. This year really takes the cake! Enrollment is down and they don't know why (aside from having to give the boot to many problem children). Teachers are retiring and quitting and aides are being let go because they lack funds. 3 weeks into the school year, a year that is about changes and making things better, they are now combining 4th grade classes and sending the other teacher off to the other campus. Did they discuss this with parents? Nope. Why didn't they take care of this prior to the start of the year? The class sizes were small, we expected them to make up for the awful previous year. If they were going to combine they should have done it sooner not 3 weeks in because one of their other teachers quit. By doing this they are messing with the children and their comfort. They said they are doing it for education, larger doesn't mean better in this case! If I had other options my child would be out the door. I don't recommend this place. They'd like us to refer people to them ut I just can't. It's wrong.
Posted by a parent on 9/21/2012This in a terrible school. It was great two years ago, but it's amazing how quickly it's transformed into a school with fights daily, foul language, and rampant disrespect.
