Posted by a parent on 11/26/2023I am a student at this school and it is a pretty good school overall. The teachers are very nice and they help motivate many kids. Many teachers also help with homework assignments, and kids mental health when they notice something is wrong. The counselors at this school are great, they do the best

Posted by a parent on 9/24/2021Since my kids have attended Fairview for all their school years, I have a sentimental, soft spot for the place. It's not the school it was when they started in K4. There are a number of great teachers working there, and I hope they remain there for many more years.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am thankful that we left Glenwood. My son was there for K-4 until the start of 5th grade, and my daughter went to 3rd grade. The math and actual academics at the school are horrible. We moved to Germantown, and have been working a lot to get our kids up to average when they were both achieving as much as possible at Glenwood. Mrs. Rocha, and some other staff are wonderful, but the school as a whole is run more like a daycare than a school. There is no shortage of parties, fundraisers and other non-academic events, but there is little in the way of academics. Unfortunately, the principal( like many in MPS) has neither the skills nor expertise to do their job. They could never manage a classroom. The admin ,for the most part, is insulated and mostly concerned with keeping those 100K+ jobs. Violence, disrespect, and disruption by students and parents ,is met with: What could you as a teacher have done differently? Or, “ The student is Special Ed and has an IEP. I learned he wasnt allowed to read an animal book because it wasnt a chapter book and since he didnt pick one out he was given a chapter book in SPANISH. He asked if he mixed his slime enough but because they weren't supposed to be talking he had to wait until last to pick the color he wanted. My daughter was bullied on a regular basis and the teacher did nothing about it. Both kids developed low self esteem and mental health issues.
