Read what parents are saying about Central - Denison Elementary SchoolI am 20 now but I went to this school from kindergarten to 5th grade and the memories that stuck with me most were the memories of teachers confiscating my Pokémon cards during recess “until after school” and my first grade teacher taking my Bulbasaur pencil sharpener “until the end of the school year”. (My dad and I visited the office after school the same day that one of the teachers confiscated my tin container filled with rare Pokémon cards I was showing a classmate during recess and the teachers denied that it ever happened. As for the sentimental Bulbasaur pencil sharpener that my 1st grade teacher put in her desk drawer, when I asked about it during the last week of school she checked her desk and after being unable to find it she claimed she didn’t remember it at all.) I loved Cen-Den as most of the teachers were super kind, considerate, and wanted the best for their students making it a great environment to grow up in, however, the loss of my Bulbasaur pencil sharpener was truly heartbreaking and unforgettable. This would definitely be a 5-star review if it weren’t for the memories of these tragedies and the teachers’ total disregard for the permanent loss of my personal belongings. RIP Bulbasaur pencil sharpener 2000-2007
Posted by a community member on 6/3/2021I open enrolled my daughter 3 months ago to Central Denison. We came over from another school in town. Upon starting here, we discovered my child was an entire grade level behind in reading. She was also far behind in math. The level of caring and compassion I have seen at this school leaves me at a loss for words. Mrs. Matthiesen and Mrs. Webster have worked exceptionally hard every day to get my daughter up to speed. So much devotion and communication.. I am proud to say she has found her love for reading and is able to read 4 syllable words in just 3 short months. From sending home age appropriate books, to fun activities like hot cocoa day and a book these teachers have a strong program in place and seriously make learning fun. Becky the principal has the most caring and compassionate heart I have seen in my 18 years of raising kids. This is the type of a principal that meets you late at night for a tour of the school and dresses as Santa Claus to put smiles on the kids faces in crazy times. The music program is insanely great. There was a whole night of fun this years with a live stream Christmas sing along! It was such a fun family night! The PE teacher Mrs. Slattery is so darn creative and makes exercise so fun for the kids with obstacle courses and cool games. It's no wonder she won an award this year. Trust me she deserves every award and is one of those exceptional people that volunteers helping out with all she can for our community. She just makes you smile. This school has made safety and education a top priority in this pandemic. I feel safe sending my child to school because I know she is in the best hands. I absolutely love this school. The staff. The programs they have in place. Character building. I have never seen a child so excited to go to school everyday like I do now. Thank you Cen Den. Please keep up this level of excellence.
Posted by a parent on 12/22/2020Very sweet school, we’ve had great experiences with teachers and staff. Had several negative experiences on the bus and it was taken care of immediately with one call to the school. The kids take walking field trips to events in town and to the local library. We came from a top ranking school in a neighboring state and think CenDen is just as wonderful.
Posted by a parent on 2/28/2019Central-Denison is fine if your child does really well in school. Essentially if they would do well anywhere they will do well here. If your child struggles or has special needs this district is TERRIBLE. Its not just one school, its the administration that is very controlling and absolutely terrible. It's like they don't want any child that has extra needs in their school so they try to force them out.
Posted by a parent on 5/17/2013My daughter is the preschool program here, and she absolutely loves it! The teacher is very sweet, affectionate, loving, patient and creative. The class sizes are small, and there is lots of parent involvement.

Safe environment, very small class sizes (10 students), challenging curriculum, and teaches about the bible and the importance of God in our lives. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur school has a clear mission of providing a quality education and a strong Christian foundation through God's word. We are not just a school, but a family that cares for each student. We could not think of a more supportive, loving environment for our children. And their academics are amazing, because it is a multi-grade classroom set-up, which internationally is recognized as producing top reading scores. We are currently fundraising to keep up with technological advancements by purchasing chromebooks for each student. The teachers and staff continually are adapting to higher education standards, while remaining true to a solid Christian foundation. We are truly blessed by having this educational opportunity in our community!Parent Review10y ago - Maple Park Charter School
