The school is the worst in the area. Central has a huge drug issue, more so than any school I've ever encountered. The students also skip so often to where it has become normal for 90% skip at least once a semester. Even the staff are terrible. They tend to avoid any problems that surface, including

We relocate a lot due to work, she has been to 3 different high schools, This was the most horrific school that she ever attended. The lack of leadership in this school is atrocious! Also the lack of respect from other students is disgusting. DO NOT SEND

It is an "old school" way of thinking and it seems as though parent involvment is not very welcomed. There is a new principle now and small positive changes were seen in the past 2010-2011 school year. But La Crosse has choice schools in it's district and Spence just has not kept up with new and progressive changes that can be seen at other La Crosse Schools. It's obvious that these teachers love the kids. They take the time to get to know each of them and are always happy to discuss any issues or concerns with parents.
