Read what parents are saying about Swanson Elementary SchoolThis is as good as public school gets. Academic achievement is highly regarded; students are tought at a high level. All teachers are responsible and engaged. Our student thrives here. We experienced horrific public schools before and can tell the diference.
Posted by a parent on 5/26/2022The school is entirely too big. It is the largest elementary school in the Elmbrook School District (close to 750 students) but smaller in square footage than others. It is becoming an unsafe environment due to the large population. There are some wonderful teachers, but their hands are tied with what they can due because of poor decisions the board of education has made. The school boundary lines need to be completely thrown out and intelligently redrawn. It is unacceptable one elementary school in at 99-100% capacity and other elementary schools are closer to 70% capacity. If moving into the area, consider other districts. Elmbrook is no longer the 'elite' district that it once was (the board can't see it crumbling right in front of their eyes). On a side note, the gifted program is a joke. It could be so much more with the proper leadership within the district. Special education has issues as well. The district has blinders on when it comes to special ed. It seems they want to pretend it doesn't exist. If you are going to be in this district, even with all it's issues, the best elementary school is Swanson. Great principal and associate principal. The staff is wonderful.
Posted by a parent on 8/4/2014I have two children in this school. Both of my kids look forward to school each day, and the teachers are wonderful. They care about my child's learning style, how they are progressing, and respond the same day to emails. The principal and vice principal respond very quickly to phone calls as well. I am very impressed with the Swanson school, and I am very happy with the education my children are receiving. I have one child in the gifted program, and my other child is average. The school meets both of their needs. I am so happy we are in this district. The teachers welcome parent volunteers too, and there are many opportunities to get involved.
Posted by a parent on 3/15/2014My son just started kindergarden at Swanson. Both his main teacher and assistant teacher are very quick in responding to my emails. This is very important to me, because I work full time and I am not available by phone during the day. I feel like I can always be on top of things, and not forget or miss anything, because the school sends constant reminders. I really feel like the teachers know what they are doing and really care about the kids. I couldn't be happier with my experience so far, and would highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a great school.
Posted by a parent on 9/24/2012I have 2 kids and soon will have 3 kids in this school. The teachers were helpful and worked with me to improve academic knowledge of my kids. The best part is that my kids long to go to school each day.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a former student from this school and this school is INCREDIBLE! The teachers set good examples for the students and teach them so much in a variety of subjects, while also preparing them for their futures and having fun and creative lessons. There are often fun events and incentives at the end of each quarter for the students if they have been on their best behavior, such as glow-in-the-dark dance parties and the creek crawl. There is a reward system called PAWS where if a student has been recognized for being respectful, responsible, safe, or a leader, they are given a paw and they could be selected for a special prize. Bullying is not tolerated at this school, and teachers will always help a student with bullying problems right away. There is also a counseling system at this school that is open to everyone. I was so happy being a student in the great environment of Poplar Creek, and recommend this school to any children who want to attend a very educated, fun, and leader-lead school!Student Review1y ago - Orchard Lane Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son goes to kindergarten here and he loves it. They get 2 recesses every day, music and art every week, and use iPads to help teach math - which has been very effective for my son. The PTO puts on great events. Communication via e-mail has been very good and the use of Shutterfly to share events and photos is really cool. Great facility and great people.Parent Review7y ago - Hillcrest Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI didn’t not expect the power of a strong community and the impact that would have on our family and my children’s education. I’m grateful to know the families so well and have created life long friendships for our kids and family. Academically, the school is constantly evaluating itself and looking for ways to build a stronger education. The early education and primary teachers have been so strong and I’m looking forward to experiencing the new project lead the way middle school program in the coming years as well as the partnership of Catholic Memorial High school to help prepare our kids for high school. Thank you for setting the bar high and continuing to raise it, SJV!Parent Review1y ago - Heritage Christian Elementary
