Summitview Elementary School

I have never experienced an admissions process this frustrating, dismissive, and completely lacking in communication.I put my oldest daughter on the waitlist when she was six months old. She is now 4½ years old. My younger daughter was put on the waitlist before she was even born. For YEARS, I have called, followed up, asked how we could get involved, and asked what we could possibly do to improve our chances of getting our children into the school. Every time, I was told someone would get back to me. They never did.We even had friends of friends who attend or have attended the school put in a good word for our family. We were repeatedly given the impression that our oldest would have a spot by 2025. It is now the end of 2026, and she has still never been offered a place. At this point, I honestly have no idea what the criteria are for getting into this school. We have spent years patiently waiting and doing everything we were told to do, while watching other families get spots for children who were put on the list considerably later than ours. That is incredibly frustrating and raises serious questions about how transparent and consistently the admissions process actually is.The most insulting part is that they won't even allow us to tour the school or come see the environment for ourselves unless we're essentially at the very top of the waitlist. So families are expected to wait for years without even being able to see whether the school is actually a good fit for their children. We have been patient. We have followed up. We have tried to get involved. We have asked for guidance. We have made connections with families within the school community. Nothing has made a difference, and no one has bothered to communicate with us.After four and a half years of waiting for my daughter, I am beyond disappointed. At this point, it's not even about getting a spot anymore. It's about how poorly we have been treated throughout the entire process. If a school has an extremely competitive admissions process, fine — but families deserve honesty, transparency, and basic communication. This experience has left a very bad impression of the school and its administration. I would never have expected to spend years trying to get my children into a school only to feel completely ignored.
