Read what parents are saying about Burton Elementary SchoolThe quality of everything at this school is very poor. The administration cares not about families and will lie to protect themselves. There is a new building, but that means little when the people who are supposed to be educating the children act like they wish they would be anywhere else. There is a substantial amount of bullying, theft, and violence. All of which nothing is done about. Avoid this school at all costs.
Posted by a parent on 2/10/2024Maybe things have changed since 1991-93, who knows, but this was the worst school I ever went to as a child. I was so traumatized that I don't remember my homeroom or reading teacher's names for 6th grade, just how much they hated me. The kids were just as awful. One pushed me into the roof column support to try to flatten my forehead, no idea who because I got a concussion and couldn't remember. At my D.A.R.E. graduation, someone had written all over my desk in permanent marker my name and that I am a B-word. My homeroom teacher didn't say or do anything while I just sat there and cried the rest of the day. I would beg to stay home the entire year pretending to have a stomach ache, or any excuse to not go to school. After the dare graduation trauma I would just walk to school, absolutely numb, and keep walking to the little grove of trees behind the school and hide in there until I could hear the end-of-the-day bell and then walk home. If those same teachers/staff are still there, I'd rather chew off my own arm than send my kids there.
Posted by a community member on 3/10/2022Over all poor. Academically my son is behind. He has low self esteem and we are trying to reegnight his inquisitive nature and love for learning. His experience made him sad and depressed. The bulling and lack of support from the staff left him feeling alone and lost. We refused to let him continue at this school or let our younger children star attending at this location.
Posted by a parent on 9/11/2018This is one of the best schools in the Vancouver School area. My granddaughter has done very well there. As for the past Principle. She was also wonderful. This year there is a new one and she seems to have what it takes to make it a excellent learning experience for all who attend.
Posted by a parent on 11/16/2017By far the worst school my children have been to. The staff treat the children as if they are incapable of thinking or doing for themselves. The principal is a complete joke. Half of the teachers are airheads and scatter brained. They act like because they have 20 kids in a class they can't focus bee bothered with assigning homework. My kids have been to a school with double the kids at burton and got homework everyday. The lunch menu is ridiculous. As much as they promote "healthy eating" what they serve the kids is a joke. Another school my kids went to had a full salad bar with fresh fruit and vegetables daily along with other healthy options. the kids were able to serve themselves because guess what.. It teaches them how to be responsible and clean and mature etc. The processed pre frozen garbage and pre bagged junk food served there is not acceptable. But hey if they throw an apple on lunch tray it's healthy. Students were definitely not treated equal here as well. If you have a parent on the pta or are food buddies with someone.. Your kid might be fine. But be a new student with parents new to the area and your kids are treated like garbage. I've donated to the school. Book drives. Volunteered. But this school is still a joke.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are so happy with Fircrest. The staff is friendly, engaged, and they know every kid's name! Our experience with teachers has been very positive. With learning and behavior concerns for our son, the teachers have worked with us to positively reinforce better academic and social outcomes. We love that the school is diverse and offers accommodations for multiple languages, including a focus on sign language! Also, the school's theme of "Let Kindness Ripple" is something we carry into our interactions with family and community members.Parent Review2y ago - Image Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been at Image the last 3 years (K-3) and we love this school and it's staff. He was having some behavioral problems and his teachers, the school counselor, principal, and vice principal were supportive and helping us to find solutions and in the process of us getting his ADHD diagnosis. He is excelling in his school work, making friends and had adults at the school we can trust.Parent Review1mo ago - Marrion Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have nothing but awful things to say about this school. The teacher they had for my daughters kindergarten class did not teach any of the early development criteria that would be expected of a kindergarten class. The school allowed bullying and did nothing to stop it despite all my efforts, calls to the school, the teacher, other parents, the principal or the counselor. I fought for my daughter all last year to have nothing addressed or fixed. I now have my daughter in a new school district where she has been placed in a classroom with a teacher who is knowledgeable and knows how to teach younger children. My daughter is being placed in a class to help her with her reading due to the fact that she was unable to learn in the environment she was in last year. We have had to place her in occupational therapy to help her understand and control her emotions due to the bullying that she dealt with at this school. The school did not follow protocol on many occasions. I was not informed when my daughter received a head injury at school. They never called me about the incident but I ended up taking her to the doctor and she had a small concussion. She came home in clothes that were not her own on multiple occasions with no notice to me or her father as to why she was in different clothes. She was bullied the entirety of the year from kicking, hitting, spitting, being punched, shoved into mud puddles and specifically told by other students that she could not play with them, Now in 1st grade in a new school we are starting from scratch and trying to undo all the damage that was done at this school. None of that even covered the lack of actual learning they did during the year, She is behind in reading and math and needs extra help to catch up. Emotionally she has degraded and we are working to build up her confidence and self worth that was completely destroyed.Parent Review6mo ago - Hearthwood Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI loved this school, I don’t remember much of the education, but the staff were so lovely. They cared so much for the students, the school videos are so adorable and I love how they kept doing that over the years. I keep going back to see my class in the Happy video a few years ago. So so adorable. Any child would be happy to be there.Other Review1y ago - Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary School
