Posted by a community member on 9/19/2023This school was the single worst place i've ever had to be enrolled in. The system is set up against kids with ADHD, and learning disabilities. They humiliate you and make you stand against the wall like you're a small small child.
Posted by a community member on 9/4/2023Absolutely horrifying. The teachers there are overwhelmingly great human beings who have one of the hardest jobs on the planet. They aren't given the opportunity to be better for the students, and I feel bad for any student who has no other choice but to attend. Students, families and teachers alike: stay away. You can get a better experience just about anywhere else.
Posted by a teacher on 10/24/2020There is supposed to be a Pre-AP track at this school for the students who came from the Excel program and other advanced kids. In math and language arts, it seems to be the case. Not in science, though. Why not? Where's the advanced science course? My kids begged for it at first and now are losing interest in what was their favorite subject. It is a shame. I can only afford so many after-school and summer programs. Plus the fact that students aren't allowed to use lockers and must drag their full backpacks from class to class is ridiculous. If your kid has PE, this will include taking a stinky pair of sneakers along with every book and a giant 3-inch binder that never gets used but is required. At least the band teacher lets them store their instruments this year. That's one major improvement. The school bus even sits them 3 to a seat, which can't be legal. Have you seen the size of these kids?

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrible school! Major problem with bullying. Kids will get in trouble for defending themselves. Parents of the kids do not discipline then at home and ot spill over to the school. Teachers are overwhelmed and don't have the right support needed. Wish i never had my oldest in this school and his education had suffered. We are better teachers them some at this school. Also teachers need to quit sharing so much about there personal lifes and opinions with young kids.Parent Review1y ago - Christensen Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am not sure why this school is a 4/10. Quite frankly, they deserve a 10/10. Amazing staff, safe school, all around terrific district. I am so happy to have my kids in this school and district! Thank you Collins Elementary for being a great school for my kids. I wouldn’t have them go anywhere else! (My kids are in 3rd grade). They have been attending this school since Kindergarten and I have never once had an issue. Thank you time a million, to the staff at Collins Elementary!Parent Review2y ago - Fern Hill

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'll make this quick. My child was punched by another child and the only reason I found out about it is because I noticed the marks on my child. The school was not going to tell me this happened. When I confronted the school they first tried to blame my child for the reason they got hit. Then when that fell through. They admitted that they knew this other child was a problem, that they thought they had them under control and that they were not going to punish them because their life was already difficult enough. The only help they would offer was to watch the problem child closer and to make sure all teachers were to keep a better eye on them..Parent Review7mo ago - Larchmont
