Posted by a parent on 10/14/2024Good school until you need mental help. I talked to my counselor about having fleeting suicidal thoughts and i was told to "not return until you have a plan with a therapist and a social worker." I missed months of school, and am completely off track to graduate.

It may have been bad for them but my experience with this school has been wonderful . Mr Hartley is one amazing principle hope he stays while my daughter completes high school . 3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrible school! Major problem with bullying. Kids will get in trouble for defending themselves. Parents of the kids do not discipline then at home and ot spill over to the school. Teachers are overwhelmed and don't have the right support needed. Wish i never had my oldest in this school and his education had suffered. We are better teachers them some at this school. We did have one teacher incident but we went directly to the principal, vice principal, counselor and they were immediately responsive and took quick action to rectify the situation. Our child is struggling with ADHD and it is early on with diagnosis but the staff has gone above and beyond to help our child and our family. I am so impressed with the staff and how loving and attentive they have been. The school is very family oriented and very focused on the well being of the kids. I love the overall feeling when you walk in the school its very warm and inviting. This is our second year and we love Collins elementary. The diversity is great here. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'll make this quick. My child was punched by another child and the only reason I found out about it is because I noticed the marks on my child. The school was not going to tell me this happened. When I confronted the school they first tried to blame my child for the reason they got hit. Then when that fell through. They admitted that they knew this other child was a problem, that they thought they had them under control and that they were not going to punish them because their life was already difficult enough.
