Read what parents are saying about Saltars Point Elementary SchoolThe school has the potential to be great but there are some serious issues. My child was accidentally hit by a chair that another child threw because she was “mad”. Nothing was done. Kids here have behaviour issues & teachers do nothing.
Posted by a parent on 2/29/2024Excellent experience so far and is probably the best elementary school in the Dupont area.
Posted by a parent on 2/15/2022My daughter is in fourth grade and great experience so far. Great teachers who keep kids always occupied with a lot of indoor and outdoor activities.
Posted by a parent on 2/15/2022My son has loved his time here, the staff and teachers helped with some hard times with him and it has definitely put him on a good path.
Posted by a parent on 8/23/2019We have nothing but good things to say about Saltar's Point. Our kids LOVE going to school. Teachers are so hopeful and the admin is always visable and supportive. My son ate lunch with the principal once a week in the library and it was the highlight of his day!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a diverse and inclusive school. The diversity changes with each year due to the demographics of this city. They have a waiting list at Idlewild because they are well respected for both teachers and curriculum. The PTA has always been strong at Idlewild. Parents, teachers and community working together to form new citizens through education and awareness of self and respect for others. My child started here in kindergarten and continued through to college graduation and is a contributing citizen today. We were a middle class military family (now retired). My grandchildren now have the opportunity to attend Idlewild and are even luckier with the addition of the IB curriculum. No one is forced. New ideas or feelings are embraced as teaching and learning opportunities by the staff. People who feel left out need to get involved not complain on this forum. Addressing the comment I saw about Black heritage month being ignored. January was when the school was on remote learning due to covid-19 in 2020. I can assess that Latino/Hispanic heritage month was September/October 2021 and that my grandchild shared with me a few things from school on that. In Idlewild's defense it is much easier to notice awareness of the respecting of heritage during in school attendance. The school and staff were doing their utmost to give the best education to each and every child under difficult circumstances last year. Our thanks for a job well done. Teachers should not be made into surrogate parents. Idlewild's teachers give parents and each student the tools to excel. What you do at home to enhance and develop them is up to each individual family in the community. In conclusion I would add- once a falcon always a falcon "Soar to your highest level". We can raise the ratings by being personally responsible for supporting good citizens in every way as individuals, students, and community members.Other Review2y ago - Lake Louise Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have been going here for a few years. We came in as a military family. They have a new principle who is cleaning house and updating their operational procedures. The remaining staff are raising the standards and doing a great job collaborating with parents to meet new state driven educational goals. My daughter tested as a 4th grader (7th grade math, and 6th grade reading by the end of the year). Mr. Woolery is doing a great job. Mrs Collins, Mrs Akins, and Mrs Hefty, really work towards ensuring the kids have a good foundation. Personally, I am impressed as to how fast my kids short comings were addressed and how quickly (we - working together) were able to get them up to speed. These teachers do everything they can to support parent involvement. They gave me extra work for my children to complete at home to address their weaknesses. I look forward to another good year chasing better test scores and higher grades. My belief and observation is that this school is transitioning for the better. Keep up the good work!!!Parent Review9y ago - Lakewood Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are a military family and came upon this school by chance three years ago when my husband was stationed at Ft. Lewis. I cannot say enough fantastic things about this school. Small class sizes cater to both advanced students and those challenged. We have sent our 3 sons here for the last 3 years even when public school became an option. The cost is very reasonable. They have learned an incredible amount, putting them a grade and a half above their current grade in testing scores. In addition, they have wanted to go to school each day because the teachers are loving, firm and fun. If you live in the Lakewood, Steilacoom, Dupont area, I highly recommend you check out this school- you will be impressed!Parent Review9y ago - Meriwether Elementary
