3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a diverse and inclusive school. The diversity changes with each year due to the demographics of this city. They have a waiting list at Idlewild because they are well respected for both teachers and curriculum. The PTA has always been strong at Idlewild. Parents, teachers and community working together to form new citizens through education and awareness of self and respect for others. My child started here in kindergarten and continued through to college graduation and is a contributing citizen today. We were a middle class military family (now retired). My grandchildren now have the opportunity to attend Idlewild and are even luckier with the addition of the IB curriculum. No one is forced. New ideas or feelings are embraced as teaching and learning opportunities by the staff. People who feel left out need to get involved not complain on this forum. Addressing the comment I saw about Black heritage month being ignored. January was when the school was on remote learning due to covid-19 in 2020. I can assess that Latino/Hispanic heritage month was September/October 2021 and that my grandchild shared with me a few things from school on that. In Idlewild's defense it is much easier to notice awareness of the respecting of heritage during in school attendance. The school and staff were doing their utmost to give the best education to each and every child under difficult circumstances last year. Our thanks for a job well done. Teachers should not be made into surrogate parents. Idlewild's teachers give parents and each student the tools to excel. What you do at home to enhance and develop them is up to each individual family in the community. In conclusion I would add- once a falcon always a falcon "Soar to your highest level". We can raise the ratings by being personally responsible for supporting good citizens in every way as individuals, students, and community members.Other Review4y ago13 Reviews - Lake Louise Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student, it is a great school, just a few complaints.1. Many of the staff seem to have a condescending attitude towards students who did nothing2. The new counselor seems to halfheartedly address issues such as bullying, and has even laughed at bullying reports.Other than those two problems, this is a great school to go to.Other Review2y ago17 Reviews - Cherrydale Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child went here for 2 1/2 years before we pulled her out. There are many amazing teachers here doing wonderful things for the kids. And then there are teachers who seem to really not care or maybe are burned out? We also had multiple safety issues that the school did not seem interested in handling. My child has had several friends who have had extensive bullying that administration did nothing about. Once, my child was punched and I only found out because she told me when she got home that day. No phone call, no repercussions for the child in question. There is almost no family engagement. This is a school where really depends on the teacher. You might get lucky and get some amazing or you might be stuck with someone who is doing the bare minimum and regularly calling in sick. Well I think this is an OK school you need to be prepared to advocate for your child in a significant wayParent Review1mo ago20 Reviews - Lakewood Lutheran School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagewe have been attending Lakewood Lutheran for three years and love this school and the teachers and volunteers. My kids never want to leave and have made wonderful friends here. I like that there are so many opportunities to volunteer and be part of the school. We appreciate how easy it is to communicate with the teachers and feel like they really care about our children success and overall happiness.Parent Review2mo ago6 Reviews - Meriwether Elementary

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur experience at Lakewood Lutheran has been very positive. We love the warm, safe environment and the private school, homeschool-style, Montessori-like approach that allows kids to grow at their own pace. The two multi-grade classrooms truly mimic real life, helping students navigate different ages, personalities, and challenges while building confidence and responsibility. The educators are amazing—balancing current practices with an “old school” approach where kids are expected to learn and take ownership. Most importantly, kids are given space to make mistakes, grow, and reach their full potential. Through a supportive environment, adversity is easier to navigate. The world isn’t always kind, so knowing our kids are safe, valued, and able to share how they feel means everything. The staff is caring, welcoming, and values parent input and involvement. We’re especially thankful for the principal, who made our transition from one private school to another feel easy. It’s been a wonderful year, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.Parent Review2mo ago2 Reviews
