Read what parents are saying about Spokane Montessori School NorthMy son has been going to Spokane Montessori North for 4 years, and he is just finishing kindergarten. It has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience to watch my son grow, mature and become a leader in his school. His twin sisters joined him 2 years ago as 2 1/2 year olds. The experience has been unique but equally enjoyable for each of them. The teachers have the ability to see each child as an individual, guiding them as they learn in their own ways. I am so blessed to have found Spokane Montessori North, to participate as a parent, and to know my children are in a safe, loving and nurturing environment daily. I am confident that as my son starts first grade next year, he is more than prepared academically and socially. And I look forward to the next two years my girls will spend at Spokane Montessori North.
Posted by a parent on 5/29/2013As older parents of an only child, my wife and I needed a preschool that provided a safe, diverse environment that would allow our child to grow socially and academically. Spokane Montessori School North has surpassed our expectations in every way. The staff is knowledgeable, experienced and caring. We have benefited as parents from their observations and advice. We have watched our son grow into a confident and caring boy who loves his classmates and has been challenged and inspired by them. He has developed a strong academic foundation and more importantly, a genuine love of learning. Our family has been truly blessed by this experience.
Posted by a parent on 4/18/2013My son has been attending this school for just over a year now and we love it! The school fosters an environment for learning that encourages children to learn through discovery. The Montessori methods that are used make learning fun and exciting and help children to "think outside the box". The teachers actively engage with the children and truly care about their development and about them as individuals. The school also provides parents with many resources and learning tools to help foster the Montessori methods of learning outside of the classroom. I feel blessed that my son is able to attend this school and I recommend it to all my friends and family with pre-school age children.
Posted by a parent on 4/15/2013I would highly recommend Spokane Montessori North School to any parent looking for a strong foundation to academic education, while fostering independence and developing a critical thinking mind. Both of my children attend this school. My son began at age 3 and my daughter at age 2 . Both have benefited well from attending this school; however, the earlier you start, the more beneficial it is. So much happens with your child at this early age; language development, psycho sensory motor development, practical life (care of self, others, environment), grace and courtesy. In addition, they are introduced to math, reading and writing. My now 4 old can do simple math problems, write her name and is learning to read. My now Kindergartener is an avid reader and wants a Kindle! I truly believe in the Montessori method. Both of my children will be continuing this method of learning throughout their elementary school years. I am very happy with this school and so excited for their future.
Posted by a parent on 4/15/2013My daughter started here this school year, she loves it and so do we. The school provides a Montessori approach that is creative, while friendly and warm. The teachers are intelligent and loving and have great communication with parents. I know she is really cared for- she comes home happy, she goes to school happy! I am a happy parent.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile there are some great teachers at Linwood, there are others, along with admin; who do not have what is in the best interest of student's first, but what is easiest for them. Hopefully new principal next year will do better. For example, we have found IEP meetings to be extremely difficult to schedule and they wait until the last minute (right before their deadline) to schedule the IEP meeting, even when I have tried to schedule the meetings well in advance to avoid scheduling conflicts. Additionally, when I have asked questions during the IEP meetings, my questions were often met with annoyance and condenscending attitudes. I had to make several requests for IEP progress notes, which should given with every report card. IEP Meetings were only scheduled for 20-30 minutes, so meetings were rushed. We had major concerns about our student's math skills because they had deep difficulty with basic multiplication and division (upper grade student), the homework would cause overwhelm. We requested more support for math from the IEP team and we were shown "data" that our child was performing ok. When the IEP psychological evaluation results came back, our student scored in the FIRST percentile for math for their age and grade. We asked the IEP team about this discrepancy and they blamed our student for being a bad test taker. Our student also experienced harassment, intimidation and bullying. Students at Linwood are expected to report "conflict" immediately, even in front of their bully. Our student experienced major bullying over the years at this school. More recently, one of the last events was reported to me directly after school, so I was able to report it to the teacher the same day. The plan was for a restorative conversation, however it took several days for it occur and then my student was bullied horribly again. This time it was reported before dismissal, the day it occurred, when they felt safe to do so. My student requested cameras be checked and his friend to be interviewed since he witnessed everything. Bullies denied it, recess staff didn't notice anything, so case closed. They never checked the cameras or interviewed the friend (confirmed by friend). The admin blamed my student for not reporting it immediately in front of the bullies (victim blaming). We had to get the district involved after Linwood admin stonewalling and giving poor excuses for not investigating thoroughly. We had no choice but to pull him from Linwood.Parent Review2y ago - Ridgeview Elementary School
