Hutton Elementary School

Our children have had an exceptional learning experience from Adams Elementary School! My daughter went there from 1st grade to 5th, and now my son has gone there from 2nd to 5th. The principal goes above and beyond for our children. Adams teachers are supportive, kind, they communicate efficiently and teach well. All of the staff do an amazing job! We feel that Adams is a safe school. The only down side is how old the building is, and hoping the bond passes soon, so a new school can be built.

I say never judge a school by its test scores. We were looking for an elementary school in this system that works for our daughter and Grant is it. The school's leadership makes all the difference and it shows with the warnth of the staff and the outstanding and dynamic teachers. Grant is diverse which is great not an uptight school with the establishment of the South Hill. The academic offerings are strong as well as the extracurriculars.

My two children have thrived at Hamblen Elementary school. It is a great neighborhood school with a welcoming, inclusive community. Parents are very involved and the school provides great extracurricular activities. The teachers and staff have done an excellent job supporting children's social-emotional well-being in the midst of COVID-19. My children are enthusiastic about going to school every day. My only complaint is that there are too many demands placed on teachers and classrooms with students that have high behavioral, emotional, and academic needs.

I can't say enough good things about Jefferson. My kids have flourished here--GREAT teachers. When we found out we were moving to Spokane, I worried that we should limit our house search to the schools on the South Hill with the highest Great Schools scores. Fortunately, I talked with a Spokane native who said, "I don't think you can go wrong with any of the schools on the upper South Hill," (Jefferson, Adams, Mullen Road, Moran Prairie, Wilson, Hutton). Of those schools, Jefferson has the lowest "rating", yet it's a fantastic school with amazing, committed teachers who will spend their whole careers there. It is a beautiful new building with a great surrounding playground (beautiful tall pines) in a great neighborhood. One of my favorite parts about the school is that it brings in kids from both the ritzy neighborhood to the west AND from the more normal neighborhoods to the east and south.

Our daughter really enjoyed this school. She went there with pleasure. We are a family that came from Ukraine. My daughter did not speak English at all. Thanks to the teachers, and especially the kindergarten teacher Miss Kuzel and her assistants, our daughter is now fluent in English. She was able to catch up with her peers in her studies and graduated from kindergarten with good results. Teacher feedback is a separate respect. Miss Kuzel is very attentive and caring. I am very grateful to the teachers and office workers for the work done.

My son is about to graduate 5th grade and I have to admit I will really miss Wilson, the teachers, parents and the entire community. I have always helped to volunteer as I really feel that my son has received a private school education. My son has benefited from K-5 with the best support structure, a wonderful PTA, fantastic teachers, and tons of activities. I have always felt so safe leaving my son here and he has never once tried to weasel out of going to school in the morning. That really says a lot, as I know when I was a kid, I would think of anything for a day off :) I am originally from NYC and we are somewhat known for a blunt honesty. I could not recommend Wilson Elementary more. Everyone looks out for everyone, it is a real family environment where your child will flourish
