The Valley School

Our child had a bully one year and we were told by the principal once or twice incidents is not considered bullying. Our child expressed several times they didnt feel safe in the school and the principal and assistant principal did nothing and were very dismissing. The principal and staff admit and acknowledge safety failures but do nothing to address or communicate. They don't collaborate or listen but will tell you they are but provide no evidence to support any statement. My only advice is make sure you follow up in writing and get everything in writing. They will try and push you to in person and verbal only with any situation then drag everything along to not commit to what was spoken about. They avoid accountability at all costs and everything to put in the kid and anything but them. LISTEN TO YOUR KIDS when it comes to this school because the leadership in this school is toxic and it is trickling down into the teachers and staff. Several of us have had to pull our kids out of this school which is a shame due to all the connected resources at that school.

We have loved our time at Epiphany School. There is such a sense of community between the students, teachers and parents. Our child has not only excelled academically, but also shown so much growth in social-emotional learning. Epiphany truly makes learning fun and we could not ask for anything more than a child that is eager to learn more.

HAVE YOU HEARD about the Classical Education renaissance! Kids ruminating on 'self' and getting caught up in politics is harmful and hard to get away from in schools these days. SCCS develops thinkers engaged in vigorous and joyous conversation among peers and their non activist teachers. Mastery is cultivated by adults that model respect for boundaries, love of family and importance of parents. Our children enjoy fieldtrips and healthy competitiveness of the SCCS House System. Students observe, try and make mistakes and are driven by the reward that comes from working hard as they develop trust, self-control and the skills to persevere. Great books are read, music is sung, debate is encouraged, art is made, history is valued, science is explored, movement is mandatory, cursive is flowing, math is mastered, theater is performed, service is celebrated and paper and pencil are used. THIS is how children grow up to be productive adults with a confident dose of self awareness.
