Love it! I'm so happy we have this choice for public school.

There is a very large disconnect between teachers and their students. The learning coaches are with the student every single day and understand their students learning style as well as what limits they have for completing their work for the day. However, teachers sometimes will place unrealistic expectations on the students requiring them to complete teacher assigned homework as well as the standard curriculum. This along with class connect sessions that take a great deal of time and don't have a great deal of substance or doesn't align with where the student is at in their curriculum or that will be scheduled during class connect sessions for other subjects. Other issue include not having a standard page where students can clearly see what each of their teachers have assigned them for homework. We have also experienced a great deal of down time as WAVA frequently has technical problems. WAVA tends to deal with matters in the form of threatening letters that state they will withdrawal your student for one reason or another. This has added to a perceived culture where the student comes last and WAVA comes first. WAVA has room for improvement and I hope they do. Benefits that they do have is that the curriculum is good, other then math.

WAVA K-12 is a wonderful online public school. I have been home schooling my 2 boys, Brady who is 16 and Ashton who is 11, for 6 years now. I decided to pull my boys from the regular brick and mortar school because the teacher to student ratio was 1 to 30. This was very unacceptable for my husband and me. After researching the many different options we chose WAVA K-12 due to the personal recommendations and the type of education they had to offer. This program is adaptable to every students need. Whether you are a head, behind, or right on track, this program will create a schedule that is meant specifically for your student s needs. My 16 year old son is advanced with his schooling. He has been able to use this program to advance and fulfill his specific career goals. He will be attending college full time which will allow him to get his A.A. Transfer degree and his High School diploma at the same time. This program is truly wonderful and I would encourage everyone to use this program for your home schooling needs.

We are loving our first year of home schooling. The materials provided by K-12 are excellent and their online school is so easy to navigate! Wish I would have started this in kindergarten. After talking to some of my teacher friends, my daughter is learning so much more than she would have been learning at our local public school!

Have been with WAVA for 5 years and have always LOVED the program! It has enabled my 10 yr old son with Aspirgers to excell beyond anything he could of done in a typical B&M school. We just got his MSP test scores back and he made a 475/475 on his reading for 5th grade and 463 for his math, both are Above Average for what is expected of the 5th graders. He gets to work at his own pace, push through lessions he finds easy and take time through the ones he has more difficulty with. He also gets to play a lot during the day because it doesn't take him long to finish a day's worth of school! Because it doesn't take him long to finish his "schedule" he often works ahead on classes he enjoys (especially science as he is in Advanced Earth Science for 5th grade! :) ) I highly recomend this school for any and all learners...its the best education and better even then what a private school can offer!
