Read what parents are saying about Horizons Elementary SchoolClass sizes are too big and the teachers/staff think conflict between students is above their pay grade. There is little communication, little to no school activities. I was very excited for my kids to attend and move to the neighborhood I did because of the schools so very disappointed with my experience.
Posted by a parent on 3/27/2024My daughter has been assaulted here, as far as I know nothing has happened with that student, her teacher is lazy, won't reply to emails, won't help her students when they need help, refuses snack. Her kinder teacher was amazing but her current teacher is not the right teacher for the school. The new principal doesn't care whatsoever.

Posted by a parent on 11/3/2023Very good except for the principal. I'm very surprised he still works there. The good ol boy system must still prevail. Tim doesn't appropriately address the schools security flaws and poor procedures. Therefore kids are put at risk.
Posted by a parent on 8/8/2017Every teacher my kids have had has been wonderful! The staff is enthusiastic, caring, and very knowledgable. We've had nothing but great experiences. My only complaint is the classes seem a bit overcrowded and that there is a huge focus on teaching to the SBA tests, but that's not the school's fault.

Overall, we feel that Mountain View has significant issues in the areas of: academics, discipline, structure, communication and leadership. When we moved into the neighborhood, we wondered why several families around us sent their children to other schools (and not Mountain View.) 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal, staff, and teachers go above and beyond. Several of the staff currently or in the past had their own children attend the school. They hold fun optional group events like the Run Club which is incredibly popular and gives all the kids a chance to get outside and spend a little more time together outside of an academic setting. We feel that the PTO and the school work well together with the same objectives in mind for both. The parents are as committed as the school and that matters to us. Time and time again we have witnessed just how much the teachers care about the success of their students. = We love everything about this school and the neighborhood.
