The staff at Edison are caring, engaged, and provide a healthy, positive learning environment for their students. (So often reviews on sites like this are left as a last resort for frustrated individuals, aka the squeaky wheel getting the grease.)Overwhelmingly, through my discussions with current families, parents are thrilled with our school’s offerings for our students. My experience with K-4 so far has been incredibly positive with clear communication, opportunities for feedback, and engaging learning opportunities. Is our school perfect? Certainly not, because I believe every school has its weaknesses, but it has been a wonderful learning environment for our family. Family volunteers are an important part of our learning community and they work hard to fill in the gaps in funding for programs, equipment, and student enrichment.

This school is not honest and forthcoming with their perspectives, opinions or facts. They make no effort to understand a child's individual challenges and hide behind the policies every chance they get. Edison does not effectively support students with learning differences or those who need a little extra support. Edison Elementary employs a small community of people who are very snooty and small minded and not open to "outsiders" especially the principle Amy Staudenraus. This allows her subordinates to behave in the same manner. Ms. Staudenraus used a very convenient excuse - that my child is an "out-of-district" student now thus they chose not to re-enroll him; however, just across the street "out-of-district" students are still attending. The Principle would provide no other explanation, even when I asked for her honesty. After I brought up the fact that there are “out-of-district” students who live just across the street that are still attending, she told me she cannot comment on situations involving other students and their specific situations. Edison simply did not want to deal with a student that required a little extra effort because they are laxidasical and lack accountability. The principle advised I can appeal their decision if I so choose – why would I do that? I don’t want my child going to a school where he is not wanted! As a side note, when the principle left me the voicemail regarding my son’s waiver not being renewed she didn’t even leave her name and referred me to the district office. When I called there, they told me they didn’t leave me the message that it had to come from the principle. After my husband left work waiting over an hour for the principles call back, I finally reached her and she confirmed she left the message – talk about unprofessional! It is VERY unfortunate that my child was exposed to this educational/LIFE experience and at such a young age. I will do everything I can to make sure he is NEVER mistreated by an educator(s) in the future!

My children attended out of district which requires an attendance contract. Due to very bad weather where we live(the school five minutes from us was closed the entire week) our kids didn't make it to school which violated the contract. After talking to the principal, she was not only the opposite of understanding, she informed me my children were no longer welcome at the school. Considering that all statistical evidence shows that it is rarely a good thing for kids to switch schools mid-year and have to start over I strongly question whether they are more concerned with what is easiest for them rather then what is best for the children. Do not send your kids here unless you want them to be another number.

The office staff is terrible they are beyond rude. However they expect to be treated with respect or they will give the kids a day slip. Kids are not watched over properly at recess or at dismissal. The little ones could (and do) run out with no supervision. 2 out of 3 teachers were lovely. Overalls this school seems to be run by volunteers with not a lot of effort. The school nurse is only there 3 hours 1 day a week. That's convenient.

This school has amazing oppurtunities and plenty of unique activities. The teachers really make connections with the students we are always coming up with fun new ways to learn. Edison has the yearly play, where everyone gets a part, the carnival, the summer reading program, the Halloween parade, and much much more! Edison is my second home and I will be heartbroken when I have to leave it.
